Forums - Sony - Why all the Sony hate?

Tispower - Regarding the batteries...

SONY'S CHEMISTS INVENTED THE LITHIUM BATTERY.

No one refutes that, and yes, they do have a pretty respectable battery division. They make over 50% of the world's laptop batteries. Yet their batteries are the ones that blew. And it was proven in a civil court that Apple/HP/Dell's laptops were not to blame. It's actaully pretty sad that Dell received all the bad PR that they did, their stock fell something like 12% with that news story and it was entirely the fault of the battery with the Sony sticker on it.

Ok, you guys totally missed my point. I'll rephrase it:

Why hate a company because of some bad press, (ie the exploding batteries) when those same batteries power many products (like iPods apparently), that aren't just Sony products. I can't think of another example atm, but my point is, hating a company for bad press is one of the uneducated things you can do really. Since when was the press ever totally trustworthy?

I have some other thoughts, but on Andir's request I won't post them.

The reason is the same their was so much hate for Nintendo over the last ten years. Seriously after 10 years of having Sony and MS fans criticize Nintendo systems as kiddy systems I am sure their are many of them enjoying the spotlight now. However their is much nintendo hate among many PS3 fans and some 360 fans though it has been getting less and less as the Wii sells better. It is still the same as it was over the last ten years. However instead of Nintendo fanboys saying wait for game X it is now the Sony fans that and the Ninendo fans saying the exact same things to the Sony fans used to say.

Seriously fanboyism feeds fanboyism. I don't hate Sony in fact I would say the amount of Sony hate is aboutthe same as the amount of Nintendo hate tehre used to be.

Sony fans have nothing to do with sony!!!!

I was talking about the fans not the company. Don't forget it was just over a year ago when many people were on this board saying that Nintendo was done it was going to drop out of HW and fail miserably. 2 years ago Nintendo was just an asterick mark to gaming to many "hardcore" gamers who consider Nintendo systems "kiddy". 3 years ago GC fans were saying wait for Game X and it will catch up in sales. They said the same thing for teh N64. Sony fans here is some advice if you want to seek consol for what you see as hate right now for sony ask Nintendo fans. It gets heat for being in last place and I wouldn't say heat until some fanboys start flamebait.

Hating a company is stupid, period.

I don't hate Sony but I do dislike some of their products. For example, their receivers blow. They're reliable but the sound quality is crap for the price point. The PS3 is reliable but there aren't enough games for it and it's too expensive for my tastes. Their laptops are alright but I prefer Apple. I think their phones are rubbish and their MP3 players even worse. The PSP is nice and I'm considering buying one but I wish it had more games.

But that doesn't mean I hate the company. They're just a faceless entity; why hate them?

You can call it an amplifier, switcher, whatever. It's the thing you hook your speakers into in a stereo.

Here in the States they're often referred to as receivers.

A Receiver is that central part of most people's home theater system.  A "radio receiver", amplifier, switch all in one.  I have always heard them called Receivers.  It may be different in other parts of the world.

It seems the mods need help with this forum.  I have zero tolerance for trolling, platform criticism (Rule 4), and poster bad-mouthing (Rule 3.4) and you will be reported.

You wanna lable me as a sony fanboy, like everyone else, that's fine. I have owned every console nintendo, sony, and soon, once I get a 360, microsoft have ever made. Including handhelds. I bought 2 DS close to the DS launch, I bashed the PSP, I criticized it, made fun of it, said it sucked. However my DS lost it's 'cool' factor rather fast and after that I stopped playing games on it almost completely. I still had faith in nintendo. I hadnt realised they said F* you kwaad, we only make games like Big Brain now!

I waited in line for 13 hours to get my Wii. I got a 2nd Wii to give to my brother so we could play games online together!

About 20 hours after that, I realised I made 3 mistakes.

1. I waited in line. Not for you agian nintendo, not untill you start catering to my needs.
2. I got a Wii. It's not made for me. The games are made for a casual gamer, not me.
3. I got a Wii for my brother. He never opened the box, and gave it to his friend for his birthday. He saw mine once, and said. "That cost 250$?!?!?!"

So far, both my PSPs see regular use, my PS3 is on 24/7, and soon here in a few months, I will have 2 of them running 24/7. My Wii hasnt been turned on in nearly a month, and it was turned on to format it becuase someone was gonna buy it, but found one at wal-mart. (luckily we called before I formatted it) EDIT: And for the DS, I would say my DS was last on 4 months ago, and my wifes about 2 months ago.

Jeez Kwaad, you crack me up. This is about as "fanboyish" a paragraph of writing as I have read for a long time. Firstly, you do the classic "I'm not a fanboy...!". Good way to start...

Then:

1/  "..we only make games like Big Brain..": Yup, Nintendo ONLY make games like BigBrain. Not New Super Mario, Zelda:Phantom Hourglass, Starfox Assault, Elite Beat Agents, Mario Kart, Kirby, Yoshi, ... obviously, nothing in this list except casual training games. And its really personal, like Nintendo told YOU to get lost. Hmmm.

2/ Online games: You waited in line so you could play ONLINE games on the Wii with your brother? You seem to be "with it" in terms of following game news - surely you would have realised there were NO online games at launch - or even online play? Maybe you should have bought your brother a 360 instead...

3/ Waiting in line was your problem - not Nintendo's. You could have easily waited for a few months to get a better feel of the system before buying. You had an idea of what the Wiimote was about after all.

4/  "..The games are made for a casual gamer..": Haven't we had entire threads debunking this? Just because they promote casual games on the Wii, doesn't mean that all Wii titles are casual titles. At least half of the games I own are very much NOT casual titles (i.e. my partner could never play them). And that's about 7-8 titles.

...

This is typical of why I hate Sony. I get the feeling that you are the classic Sony fanboy. You won't openly say that you are one - and attack Nintendo or MS openly. Instead you pretend to like Nintendo, then bag the hell out of them for "failing you" as a gamer.

This is exactly the same of feel/marketing I get from Sony (as a corporation). They never openly come out, admit they made a mistake, stuffed up or anything like that.

First "rumble was last-gen, and it doesn't work with wireless" - now "Rumble is coming to the Sixaxis - rejoice!".

(and numerous other examples, I don't have time to state here).

...

Sell both your DS's and Wii - please, and as soon as possible. The sooner we stop hearing about how you bought those devices and never use them - the better.

aaaah, amplifiers. I don't use one, I just have a micro-system, although for our main one, we have some really old Technics one, but they must be really well made, cos it still works, and is like 15years old!
