Why all the Sony hate?

Why hate a company because of some bad press, (ie the exploding batteries) when those same batteries power many products (like iPods apparently), that aren't just Sony products. Hating a company is stupid, period.

I don't hate Sony but I do dislike some of their products. For example, their receivers blow. They're reliable but the sound quality is crap for the price point. The PS3 is reliable but there aren't enough games for it and it's too expensive for my tastes. Their laptops are alright but I prefer Apple. I think their phones are rubbish and their MP3 players even worse. The PSP is nice and I'm considering buying one but I wish it had more games.

But that doesn't mean I hate the company. They're just a faceless entity; why hate them?

And wtf is a reciever? Is that an American thing, or is it like a digi-box?
