Having played Indigo Prohpecy, I can tell you that this is a scene in the game. All parts of the game will be related to the main story, and the game will play out in scenes, like a movie. This looks to be an inciting incident early in the game.
In IP, you often played as more than one character, whose paths would eventually intersect. I very much believe that this game will be similar in most aspects to IP, in which case you'll see these quicktime events all the way through, and that the story will be a varied suspense-drama, not a horror.
You know, like Silence of the Lambs, which has horror elements, but has a deeper mainstory, along with many other things going on as well.
Except, this game's story won't be as good as SotL, the greatest suspense film of all time. If it is, then this game would have taken the Videogame medium from a point of taking baby steps into the area of story development, to being better than basically every suspense movie ever created, which is impossible.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.

This is an adventure game. The sequences with the quick time events, you're not actually moving. You are just pressing the face buttons while that plays out on screen.
The facial animation is excellent, but otherwise, I think so far Uncharted has almost equal graphics, and Killzone 2 beats it outright, while Crysis pwns them all.
The early screens for Alan Wake and the Gears 2 trailer also look really promising.

It's beyond me how they can compare the graphics to Uncharted. Having recently gone back to it to get the trophies I can say it's already looking dated. Its strongest feature was the facial detail of the main characters, but MGS4 has already far surpassed that.
In comparison Heavy Rain looks much better than anything that is out and only Killzone 2 comes to mind as being similar quality, but the two games are very difficult to compare.
And yes, it was clearly stated multiple times that the demo shown at GC was made for that purpose alone and is not in the game, in order that none of the story is ruined.
Its far too early to say for sure that Heavy Rain will be good but I think whoever wrote this was just trying to be controversial. It's so unnecessary.
That article is FAIL, especially points 3 and 4, everybody should know that Heavy Rain is guaranteed to have a fantastic story, given that is made by the developers of Fahrenheit. Which brings up to point 4. While I agree that perhaps it relied too much on the Simon-like QTE (in the end it was a bit tiring), Fahrenheit was a fantastic game that offered a new way of storytelling, it had some great new ideas that were executed brillantly. How can anyone not be hyped for Heavy Rain, knowing the developers made Fahrenheit, is beyond me

I have read preview at IGN 1up etc ...
they were all impressed about heavy rain
also, the "QTE is last gen" comment is bullshit : the control AND gameplay is VERY NEWs, it is not all about QTE.
go check the peview ...
(I guess PS3 informer were not at GC and they are unhappy because nobody is checking they website)
Time to Work !
This guy didn't see the behind the scenes preview. He has no validity.

Im not sure how well we can compare the graphics of this game with those others because we've seen one trailer. Uncharted and Crysis are done, while we've seen KZ2 and Gears 2 numerous times.
Reasons why to get excited about Heavy Rain:

A nice little blurb about QTEs in Heavy Rain:
"QTEs will be common in Heavy Rain, but the emphasis is being squarely placed on living with the consequences of your actions. If you miss catching the bottle, you're not guaranteed to die, but it might get noticed by someone later on."
