Forums - General - how much is your school tuition for this semester

chapset said:
well it's 1416$ for one semester plus 500$ for the books but that's not the price for every university i know if i went to mcgill university instead of the university of montreal i would pay a lot more then what am paying right now but nothing near 20k that's just crazy

Well if I was a resident of Georgia I would be going here for free with the special scholarships they have here. Most states have a scholarship that applies only to state, non-private, schools effectively making them cost $0. University of Florida just wasn't good enough even if I was making money staying there. I'm going off the hope that CS people are gonna be in even greater demand after I get my master's/phd to make up all the debts quickly.

I don't get it, in countries like Canada, US, Australia, isn't there public universities where you don't have to pay, I don't mean a scholarship, I mean that not a single student pays?

You'd think so but no. Like I said your best bet is to show you deserve the state scholarship and go to a public state school which makes it fully covered.  The prereqs. for the state scholarships are actually very easily obtainable, you'd have to be half brain-dead or just plain lazy not to qualify to receive it.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

^ You need the bachelor's then you need to apply for grad school. While in grad school you will probably be given teaching jobs in the university to cover for living and tuition expenses, you can even sometimes raise a whole family on that salary. In grad school you need about 2 years for your Masters and then 4ish years for your PhD and a complete thesis. That's your PhD in a nutshell.

Mine is around $2k. I'm only taking 4 classes or 12 hours if you like. Add around $400-500 in textbooks. I do get financial aid, and it leaves me around $500 for myself to spend once everything is taken care of.

Bachelor of Engineering is 4 years in duration. To obtain a PhD in engineering it would take up to 10 years to complete in total and I would strongly advise you not to waste time in doing a PhD. You are better of finding work as a graduate engineer upon completion of your Bachelor of Engineering degree.

Depending on how many credits you come in with and what you are trying to achieve in undergrad. For my friend it will take only 2 years, for me it will be 4 and a half while there are people who are here for 5 years. It just depends.
