hello peoples. i work at gamestop and i have a coworker/friend who i am scheduled with quite frequently. we often get in arguments about what is really happening this generation. i go to these forums a lot and it seems to me the wii pretty much has this gen wrapped up. it is going to be really easy for them to maintain their lead in my opinion, however, my coworker seems to think the xbox 360 is really the one that is representative of this generation.

he throws out arguments like how the 360 section has a lot more games than the wii section and the general consensus amongst 'gamers' in the store is that they prefer the ps360 over the wii. i think thats cool and everything, but i argue that the wii is shaping the way the video game industry is evolving in a very powerful way. not only that, but i would argue that the wii has just as many good games as the 360. also if you look at the games that sell weekly, there are many more games sold on wii than on 360.

and whenever i refer to sales, he really tends to disregard it. i think he believes that i am telling him some biased sales numbers, but i think this site is pretty credible.

but anyways, what do you guys think? wii or 360?

he sounds like a blind fanboy to me tbh 360 could easily end up in 3rd place in a few years, but most fanboys disregard this. 

I'm picking up a 360 once the price drops, so I may help it keep steady, as I know other gamers on the fence as well.. at least I will be able to play FFXIII and star ocean soon.

Its still wide open but WII should come in 1 360 has a shot at 2 but may go to 3rd. The key is PS3 and 360 should be close in the end

The typical Gamestop game-fan is more likely to play Xbox 360 than anything else. The stats from Game Informer bear this out.

But the Wii has taken over hardware sales and is doing well software-wise -- even before third-party support of a substantial nature.

i think the wii is having more of animpact

 yea i read that, and that is where he gets a lot of his info from. he thinks those couple of pages of charts in a recent game informer magazine really do say something. he said that when he caught me reading it. i told him its just a statistic in america only, and you have to take into account the rest of the world, but he doesnt care. i told him the wii outsells the 360 in america.. but he doesnt believe me. even though it is very obvious that we sell many more wiis than 360s even though we dont have a lot of them coming in.

People can only resist great xbla games like Ikaruga, Rez HD, Duke nukem 3D, Braid, Castle crashers and The Origional n64 version of Banjo and kazooie for so long.............. XBLA is owning the competition at the moment, and as i said in a topic, games like APB, Huxley, Left 4 Dead, Gears of war 2, The precursors, White gold: war in paradise and The protector can only be ignored for so long...... Mirrosofts close ties with the PC gaming world in my eyes will gaurantee 2nd place this generation, mark my words..........
