This is not true. Europe will never overtake the American video game market.

About 90-100 million Europeans who were poor or close to poor a few years back are living in some of the fastest growing economies in the world (Eastern Europe being the absolute example) and are quickly increasing the sales and markets of recreational and luxury equipment like hi-fi tech, PC's and other appliances. They are also buying better quality foods, they go out more even though they work less and things such as gym memberships are exploding (Poland is perhaps doing the best since joining EU and compares to China and richer parts of the Middle East by economists).

So, unless America can either gain 50-100 million inhabitants the next year with reasonable pay and riches or increase the general wealth in the population by a whole lot, Europe will pass America as the biggest market. Shortly after (relatively, by 2015 or so, China will also be bigger than America and by 2018 it would probably have Europe beat as well if current growth and trends are anything to go by).
