Great commercial. They had a great one for Gears 1 as well. This game will be a system seller.

I've been seeing alot of comments of how GeOW2 will move alot of systems this Holiday season.  However, I would think the FPS fanbase is well saturated on the Xbox 360 from Halo 3 and the first GeOW.

I do, however, see the $199 price helping bring in more of the non-FPS fans or PS3 owners needing some jRPGs.

I would agree that the $199 price + JRPGs will be a huge boon, but so will a sequel to the breakout TPS of this generation, that sold over 5 million copies on it's first edition.

Any game that has that much pedigree behind it - to be a 5m+ seller, will move systems. They may not be as much as a 5m seller in a genre that can attract new players to the userbase (such as a FFXIII), but it will move systems.

Good example: FFXII in Japan. The Playstation 2 had just crested the 20 million mark. It already had 3 Final Fantasies, a 3.8m seller in Dragon Quest VIII, and multiple other blockbusters. Yet XII allowed the PS2 to nearly triple in sales, with a 40,000 unit increase on the week.

Why should XII of boosted the PS2's sales so high? There were as many PS2's in Japan alone as there are sold X360's worldwide, yet XII, which sold a mere 2.3m units LTD in Japan, moved quite a few consoles. Why wouldn't a FPS that is just as popular, bring in new players?

Inevidably, your going to have a large crop of gamers that played Gears 1 at a friends house, and don't own the game. Once Gears 2 launches, they will desire to buy a X360 for it, and do it. It may not be an insane amount, but it will be there, and be noticible.

Oh, and for the record: Halo 3 wasn't supposed to be a system seller, either. You already had Gears which supposedly sold to every Halo fan, and no one was going to buy a X360 for Halo, as they already (supposedly) owned the system, or didn't care enough to buy the system....What actually happened? The X360 sold hundreds of thousands of units thanks to Halo 3. Will the X360 sell hundreds of thousands of units for G2? No. But I would bet that it may hit the 6-digit range.

Feel free to do some reading about VGC fanboys, and what H3 was going to do:

"Will Halo 3 give the worldwide lead back to the Xbox 360?"

Quite a few interesting posts. Obviously, it was a unanimus "no", but most adamantly stated that H3 wouldn't get new users, as I stated earlier.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

As the system will be cheaper, more people may be interested in the system.

I liked the commercial for the first game more than the 2nd.

Gears is not a FPS

Gears of War 2 will sell systems. Any game that sells 5 million+ will sell systems. However, it won't sell a significant amount of systems. Definitely nowhere near the number of systems that Gears of War or Halo 3 sold.
Even Resistance 2 will probably sell more systems than Gears of War 2 will since neither the PS3 nor the Resistance franchise as saturated the shooter market to the degree that the 360 and Gears of War has.

I dont see how a sequel to a game on the system will sell systems cuz u have to get the original i dont claim Resistance 2 as a System seller but an awesome game Im sure GEars will be the same.

I agree with everyone... It will sell lots of software, but they'll mostly be people who already owned GOW1 or at least already owned a 360
