Why are many of the same people who say Obama is inexperienced sticking up so heavily for Palin? My mind can't really wrap itself around that...

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

^Probably because shes more experienced than Barrack Obama. Simple fact. 2 years Executive experience for an Executive position is > than 6 months of Legislative experience for an executive position.

Also, she has experienced more contested campaigns. Obama has a questionable history of using less than upright means to make sure he runs for office uncontested. Now, considering he's a product of the Chicago political environment, that observation may not be fair since such seedy tactics are status quo.

@akuma,

As someone who is considered pro-choice I have to tell you that was a terrible comeback on his part. The comment draws a moral equivalence between executing babies and executing murderers. One is clearly worse than the other.

As for why people stick up for Palin while saying Obama is inexperienced..there are a couple of reasons. First Palin is a VP candidate not a Presidential candidate (regardless of what either of us believe he will be held to a higher standard because of this by voters). And second I compared the information I have about both of them:

From Palin I see a record of getting things done (in an executive office) even if it means fighting her own party. She may have only ~20 months in office but as I've listed above she has done a tremendous amount in that time.

Obama's executive experience, as far as I can find information on him, is limited to his work as the Chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. Which from the details I've seen they apparently spent 110 million on education programs in Chicago and their own research into what effect it had concluded that it had little or no effect at all. As for his political career he doesn't have a lot to look at in terms of specific accomplishments or legislation to compare to the accomplishments of Palin.

I'm open to looking at more of what Obama has accomplished if I've missed something but from what I've read of his time in both State and US Senate it doesn't seem like he has anywhere near the number (or scope) of accomplishments that Palin does. And that is in part due to the difference between an executive and congressional office. As a Governor you are of course making decisions every day that are your choice alone and which impact the lives of your constituents in a very direct way, so if something goes wrong you take the full blame. As a senator you are able to champion 1 to 3 issues and aside from that you vote like every other congressional member with ultimate very little (if any) direct decision making for your constituents. This is the reason executive experience is highly valued for the presidency, it is the only thing that can prepare you for the kind of choices you have to make in that position.

This is why Obama should be steering clear of the experience issue and focusing on other points. Experience is very important but there are other strengths he can run on and I think he would be very wise to do so.

You should try wrapping your head around the difference between vice president and president. Palin has a change of being an inexperienced president if McCain is elected. Obama has a guarantee of that, and Biden can't make up for that.

We've been a bullet away from President Cheney for eight years now. That scares me way more than pretty much anything I can think of.

With that in mind, the 1% chance of hearing the words President Palin doesn't really factor into my voting decision.

I am not pro-life per say..

I am just against murdering babies in their mothers wombs.

But you're for killing babies once they get out of the womb?  Unnecessary wars, capital punishment (something I agree with just showing your hipocracy) and so forth.

Damn, that was a pretty good comeback.  +1 for you.

I would be just fine with a pro-life country IF we actually took care of all the unadopted and unwanted children we ALREADY have.  I think it is complete bullshit to say you care about life when very few pro-life people are willing to do anything about all the unadopted children not only in our country but in the entire world.

Such as in China, where the adoption problem is at epidemic levels.  Children are just abandoned in the streets and taken care of so poorly when in foster care that it is sickening.  Its fine if you are pro-life, but if you only care about abortion as a political issue and aren't actually willing to solve children's problems who are already here, then you are a flagrant hypocrite.

There's a huge difference between unborn babies and adults.

Many adults, such as murderers are guilty of crimes again man kind.  Babies are innocent.

I don't think they should ban abortion but late-term abortion is crude.

5 things McCain's pick says to us.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/12997

1. He is desperate. Maybe, but I don't think he chose her for this reason.
2. He is willing to gamble. hell yes.
3. Worried about his age. hell yes.
4. He's worried about the conservative base. yes, definitely
5. He marches to his own beat. yes - I like that.

there's six in the article.

What sort of Vice President would you like to see... as in how much involvement and influence would you like them to have in decision making?
I know there have been comments about Cheney having too much influence. What do you all think about how much power the VP position currently holds?
Would you prefer that diminished in the next presidency or would you not mind another very influential VP?

I'd like her to have had more experience, but again, it's a choice between an inexperienced vice president or a guaranteed inexperienced president. We already had the latter. My problem was only partly his views. It was that he kept f*$#ing up everything.

Well I think Palin is cool just cause she graduated from University of Idaho (check my profile :D) go VANDALS!! :D

But I won't necessarily give her my support cause I am not a fan of McCain and will stick to Obama
