So every poll before now has shown Pennsylvania to be up for Obama and now one poll shows a tie, so now it is a tied state? I'm pretty confused by this site's methodologies sometimes...

Here is how realclearpolitics.com looks at it:

RCP Average 09/05 - 09/14 -- 47.3 45.7 Obama +1.6
FOX News/Rasmussen 09/14 - 09/14 500 LV 47 47 Tie
Quinnipiac 09/05 - 09/09 1001 LV 48 45 Obama +3
Strategic Vision (R) 09/05 - 09/07 1200 LV 47 45 Obama +2

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I wouldn't take this one site that seriously, Akuma. It's just one opinion of many.

With that said, I find it funny how the country appears to be latching onto McCain while I'm drifting away from him.

Yeah, I don't always agree with realclearpolitics's methodlogies either, but the ones on electoral-vote.com just seem outright bad sometimes.

What has made you drift away from McCain?

His campaign has gone negative, I don't like Sarah Palin much (though time will tell, I'm basing this off her "record"), and I'm seeing more and more things that remind me of the Bush administration. The debates will be very telling for me but I think the old McCain is gone for good. I saw a bit of it in his RNC speech but nothing since.

At this point in time, saying "the fundamentals of this economy are strong" is stupid. It's partially true but I wan to hear real strategy, not be handed my blankie and be told to take a nap.

Obama: 243 (-4) McCain: 274 (+17) Tie: 21(-13)

  • Virginia has swung back to slightly McCain
  • Colorado has went from slightly Obama to slightly McCain
  • New Mexico went from slightly McCain to weak Obama
  • The North-Midwest and the North West all have shifted to slightly Obama.

The webmaster at Electoral-Vote.com also warns about the voting machines, a problem oft-discussed in the blogosphere...and completely ignored in mainstream media outlets:

Election Day Problems Expected

With a huge number of new voters registered this year and new equipment and procedures in use in many states, the potential for chaos on election day is great. Nine million voters will use equipment that has changed since March. Statewide voter data bases in many states are in place to weed out voter fraud, but these data bases are known to contain many errors, which will lead to fights on election day about who is allowed to vote. Premier Election Systems (formerly called Diebold) has admitted that the software used in their machines in 34 states could cause votes to be dropped. The company has no solution. Both candidates are assembling teams of lawyers to deal with challenges. The last thing the country needs in the middle of an economic crisis with two wars going on is another disputed election with legal battles over faulty voting machines in multiple states. Here is a story in the Washington Post.

I'm so happy that Colorado seems to be going blue. Colorado used to be use of the most liberal states west of the Mississippi until the early 80's. Then all the oil money came in, the urban sprawl, and the state went red.

Anyways, nice that Colorado is a potential swing state. We're getting a lot of adverts. I've been going door to door doing voter registration. It was actually hard to get a volunteer spot. They are actually turning people away.
