This is one of the most anticipated title coming in the holiday season for XBOX 360...

Gears of war sold around 6 million

and Halo sold around 8 million..

Halo 2 also sold around 8 million

So do u think gears of war 2 will be bigger than Gears of War 1 and match Halo 2.?

I think its prospective sales are being vastly overestimated, and I have no idea where you're getting your numbers from. Gears of War sold 5.2 million on the 360, which is pretty far from the 6 million you're denoting. Halo: Combat Evolved sold about 6.4 million, which is nowhere near 8 million. And Halo 2 is close enough to your estimation so I won't really bother.

Gears of War 2 will be big, but the 360's hardware numbers haven't made large enough gains to boost a sequel's sales numbers by several million.

Gears 2 sales will be lower than Gears 1 sales. Nothing against Gears, it's one of my favorite shooters.

A lot of people bought only because they were waiting for Halo 3.
There wasn't that much else to buy back in October 2006.
No 360 owners had a Wii or a PS3 yet.
There are plenty of good action games and shooters.
There are plenty of good games that aren't; I bought Gears only because there was nothing else to buy at the time.

I am rebuying the 360 in September, but I will not be buying Gears 2. (Anectdotal, but I am sure I'm not the only one)
New 360 owners will feel like buying $30 Gears1 first.

I'm not knocking the game. I think Gears is awesome. But it will sell less than Gears 1.

Explain more than "There are more 360 owners" why you think I am wrong.

I disagree, gears 2 has lots of improvements, improved match making, 5 on 5, better maps new mission modes and even better graphics it will beat GOW1 and may surpass Halo 2

I think advertising will play a key role. Will microsoft spend another 10-20 million on advertising for the title?

I expect at least 70% of the install base of the original will re-buy if the game gets good reviews.

So it could end up with LT sales anywhere between 5-7 million.
