lol ok so not exactly how it goes but you get the idea? sony will announce a $50 price cut either Late november or late Janurary. we've seen reports from gamestop, AOTS seems convinced a price cut is coming, sony has denied it. well thats all i need to know a price cut is coming within the next 5 months.

Why do all the Sony fanboys so certain there's going to be a price cut? The PS3 is expensive as hell to produce and the manufacturing costs haven't been dropping as fast as expected. I bet Sony expected Blu-Ray drives to be a lot cheaper by this point. And despite the fact that the PS3 is 200$ more expensive than the 360, it's still selling as well or better in general. That combined with the fact that Sony has said they won't cut prices to me says that a price cut is at least questionable.

Also, the Conduit is going to be huge.



Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

Last year Sony denied the price cut up until the day before...

They know that if they announce one it would freeze sales so they have to deny until they actually do it...

Guys you need to pay more attention to what Reeves is saying.

Last year SONY said: "At the moment we have no plans to cut the price of PS3".
This year SONY is saying "We will NOT cut the price this year"

Can you see the difference. On one hand you have SONY quoting for the foreseeable future which can be a day - a week or a lifetime. While now SONY being very specific about no price cuts this year.

IMHO This means at this point in time SONY wants to keep PS3 at $399. However should its sales begin to slow they might cut the price near Christmas (which is unlikely since SONY projected almost no growth from last year which means they expect to sell LESS PS3's this Christmas then they did last year. (again if the current trend continues this will not be the case)

I have yet to see Microsoft deny a price cut this generation. At least nobody has ever posted a denial from Microsoft. I think they honor the tried and true no comment strategy. Whenever they are asked a question they do not want to answer, or if they do not know the answer they say no comment. Sony on the other hand is notorious for lying. In fact they seem to have no compunction about blatantly lying even in front of overwhelming proof to the contrary. You could literally bring them a thousand advertisements and they would dismiss them as being doctored.

Basically this statement by him is worthless, because everyone knows that Sony has a problem with pathological liars in that they seem to prefer hiring them. That does not mean it will or will not happen. Just that you would get a better sense of things reading tea leaves, or dropping acid.

Honestly I do not think Sony will drop prices on the PS3 this year. I think they hit their limit last year. The investors have had all they can stand, and they cannot stand anymore. Sony cannot go back to them hat in hand, and ask for the investors to cough up some more dividends so they can loss lead the PS3 into even darker territory. Nobody has any legitimate reason to complain about the pricing of the PS3 at this point regardless.

I mean Sony actually loss lead on some units last year be as much as two hundred percent. That means they sold some consoles for half the manufacturing costs. How much more self mutilation do some folks expect. I am still shocked Sony had the balls to pull what they did last year, and I would be even more shocked no matter the situation if they did so again. What would be the point they saved the format. They saved the console. Making money is how they will save the division and the prospects of another console.

As just one example why you are so incredibly wrong:

MS obviously never lied about the RROD. Nah, they didn't keep up the charade that all was fine for over a year. Not at all. Nononono. They didn't tell us the failure rate was just fine and dandy while it was in fact horrible. They wouldn't do that.

 

All these companies are in it for one thing only - money. All of these companies will lie, cheat and swindle to get it. No one of them is any worse or better than any other. People who think otherwise are just deluding themselves.

Guys how much do you want lol. Think about it sony has already cut its price back once and it was a very good size drop. Then after that you have had how many official bundles come out?????? I mean thats costing them money right there. You think rock start said oh ok we'll give you guys a couple of thousand copys of gta4 for free or what about metal gear lol. I mean ps3 is a expensive peice of hardware and the way I see it so far for what it is we have had some really good deals. Sony this year is uping the hard drive space which gives the consumer the idear of getting more for your buck thats what there doing this year.

Just believe the opposite to what this guy says. All major corporations lie to the public time and time again. The next PS3 price cut will arrive in November 2008 in North America.
