Forums - Nintendo - New Conduit Trailer!!

Now from a completely honest perspective, I don't see why I should be pumped for this over Resistance 2, or Killzone 2. Improved aiming is great, but aside from that, what exactly is it offering that I can't get better on a different system? when other games are offering 60 player online, huge epic battles, and incredible monsters, this seems unbelievably dated. The wii has it's strong points but it simply can't compete with the other systems on their own turf. Looking at the boss battle from the conduit and then looking at the giant monster battle from Resistance 2, this seems like something I will pick up in the bargain bin later rather than something I would be pumped about now.

So what... no FPS's should be made on the Wii since it can be HD with 60-player online?  Love your rationale.  Keep up the good work.

Right now, the textures are looking mediocre at best. I'll buy it day 1 regardless...

Seriously, I think they've made the video quality bad on purpose... Because game play videos are not the same as actually playing it on your TV. It's so easy to judge a game by its cover, but then again, it is supposed to be a graphical powerhouse for the Wii... Well, either way, I'm already sold since the first trailer!

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

I didn't say no one should make a shooter, I asked why should I be pumped for this over a different shooter? And I've yet to receive a good answer other than "pointing FTW!!!". People have tried to make more power look like a bad thing (60 people too much? Well you can customize it to have less, alot of people create 8 man servers), or say that I shouldn't play PS3 or 360 because PC is stronger (crisis has great draw distance and textures, but it's not leaps and bounds above what Resistance 2, or Killzone 2 are doing. The gap between this and HD console shooters is much bigger than the gap between HD console shooters and Crisis).

This is just a console ownership thing. If The conduit was on 360 nobody would give a rats ass about it. If you only have a wii, great. Go buy it, it looks to be a good FPS. But from the standpoint of somebody that has more than one console, and a PC this game just isn't exciting. It's too far behind the times. that doesn't mean I won't play it, it just means I'm not hyped for it, and won't buy it day 1. It goes into the catagory of "rental, possibly purchase in a bargain bin someday".

I never realized how agressive wii fans were until I got a PS3. When I had a wii it was all fun and games, HD console owners seemed like douches that couldn't accept the wii was winning. but now that I have a PS3 I see this forum alot differently. I get chewed out ALOT more now that I don't just praise the wii all the time. If I so much as say "I'm less interested in this game, than one on the PS3", mind you not even saying it's a bad game, or that it will suck, but merely I am not interested in this because of other games coming out, then I will get quoted many times and have sarcastic remarks thrown my way, and other various catty replies. I feel bad for PS360 fans on this site (except Leo-j and crazzy man they deserve anything they get), especially the ones who don't own a wii.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Only thing I didn't like about this trailer is it didn't really look fun. I could say that about most FPS trailers. I got bored with the Doom run and gun by the time I played Quake. I'm hoping though that there's a lot more to this game and it's as enjoyable as Goldeneye was. I think apart from a few environments, the game looks solid and I just hope they haven't forgotten that there's more to a FPS and a good game than graphics.

The_vagabond7 - i think this is not just Wii Fanboys but fanboys of any console or consumer product (see PC v. Mac).

Smash_brother "I've been spoiled by the Wiimote and I can't play regular FPSes with controllers anymore..."

I can relate to this statement and this is why I am picking up The Conduit despite what it may be graphically. I think that right now of all the ways of playing an FPS, Mouse/keyboard controls > Wiimote > Analog sticks.

This is my preferred way of playing. To each his/her own.

I do have a 360 and a few FPSs on that though I find it more fun playing FPS with the Wii-mote

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

I think a lot of you are missing a point. Look at the praise this game has gotten.

Look at the last part of the video.

It got best shooter at E3! Not best Wii Shooter at E3 but Best Shooter!.
That says it is a good game no matter what the textures look like.

That just replaces the problem with a different one. Now you have twenty people trying to fill out a map designed for sixty. The action slows down and the weapon balance changes in favour of long-range equipment. Sure, some maps might be designed for combat on scale I want, but most will be trying to satisfy that touted number of players on the back of the box.

I know, I'm a picky bastard, but when it comes to online FPS games I can afford to be. A good online FPS offers enough replay value to entertain me for about three years. There are only three FPS games that have actually held my attention. Hopefully Conduit will be number 4, because the pointer really is more fun, and mousing is starting to cause some twinges in my wrist.
