Forums - Nintendo - Ragnarok online coming to the DS...

Well, this I have to see - a MMORG running on the DS? That's it, civilisation as we know it will end... ;)

GungHo announced they are working with Nintendo for a Nintendo DS version of its hit MMORPG Ragnarok Online, the game is scheduled for a 2008 release in Japan.

Better get a DS now if you don't have one, because when Ragnarok Online comes out, all DS shipments will by necessity be diverted to Korea. Ragnarok, for those of you lucky enough to avoid the onset of MMO addiction, is a hugely popular Korean MMO known for its adorable 2D sprites and mascot characters (at least, that's what we know it for.) Like Maple Story, we have no idea if this will actually be a DS version of the real game, or if it'll be a smaller-scale online game, or even online at all.

In the same press release, publisher Gungho Online Entertainment announced an aquarium simulator and a flower-arranging game. That's pretty great too.

Ragnorok sucks.

mM

I have played Ragnarok Online for a day or two but I left with the impression that it is a pretty crappy game. The biggest turn off was the fact that it had monthly fees and it was a 2D game. I hate fees in general and it being a 2D game made it even worse.

Proud owner of the following gaming devices:

PC, XBox 360, Wii, PS2, DS, PS3

most mmo needs you to spend a week or so to get the feel of the game.
i'd be interested to give it a spin if it does happen.

Regardless of how "crappy" it is, any form of MMORPG running on the DS must be huge news. Its also THE killer app in Korea, so if this works out well - Korea could become the next Japan (re: consoles).

Why would they buy it on the DS, instead of playing it on the PC? I suppose to play on the go, but is that really a big deal when they raid and stuff for hours from on their PC at home?

It would definitely spark Korean interest though.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I used to play Ragnarok for some time... when I was a geek with no life :P

It was fun if you had someone to play with.

Koreans will love these, but if they don't charge monthly fees, also brazilians, peruvians, thais...

There are times when I'd prefer to play on DS more than PC. Choices are good.

INSTANT BUY!... Ragnarok online is like DA SHIT for DS... MMORPG redifined!
