Today the European PSP PC store was updated with two third party PSP games for download: Medal of Honor and Pirates! The American store already has Gurumin as well as a number of first party titles. Just yesterday it was announced Sony would be offering a new bundle that comes with a sizable memory stick (4gb) and a downloadable game (Everyday Shooter). Then there's the movie store that just opened. All this has me thinking that Sony is keeping the current PSP alive partly as an experiment or beta to gain more data for their inevitable PSP2. They seem to be slowly building up the PSP store with full games and movies in order to see how people accept this distribution and to test out their own network. This is also getting consumers used to the idea of a download-only system.
Basically, all of the new features that have been slowly rolling out seem to be a rehearsal for their next effort. An effort that would probably rely on an Itunes-like media store and would replace the UMD drive with built in flash memory (which would make the system SO much smaller and more portable, not to mention much better battery life). What do you guys think?
My Top 5:
Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger
My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3
and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.
