The full names of Nintendo's old systems have always had "Nintendo" in them (not sure about Famicom though)

The Wii is just called "Wii"
It's actually pretty funny. On every website (for example IGN) the columns are called xbox 360, PS3 and then..Nintendo Wii. Whenever you here someone talk about the Wii on TV it's "Nintendo Wii" But the others are always just called Xbox 360 or Playstation 3, no Microsoft, no Sony.
Plus most people who are completely out of video games still just call it the Nintendo.
I really think they're gonna push the Wii and make it have it's own brand like apple did with Ipod. Ipod now is such a strong brand name and there's different models available with different features but all fill the basic purpose in playing music.
This is where the wii will be in a few years time with all playing games but some being geared more towards with Vc in having retro styled wireless controllers and more storage. They'll be deluxe with storage, rechargable wii motes, wireless nonchucks, balance board will be shipped with it and motion plus built into controllers etc.
Playstation and Xbox are trademarked that way too. The key with communication is, as long as it's understood, it's ok. Might not be the best, or favored, but it is ok.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
