Sony is innovative. The EyePets game was just OMFG on technology. i really want to play with that game just because of what it can do.

Yeah... i mean they do know the hardware best...

What funny is that nobody read the actual OP... and are now apparently argueing that MS and Nintendo are more or less innovative on Sony consoles.

 

 

I can see a case being made for Microsoft indirectly being a big innovator on the console. The online services offered via the PSN are clearly being modeled after Xbox Live. You qould have to put forth online services as the premier part of the console (as opposed to games) though and I don't think anyone would argue that.

Seriously? What are Wii Sports, Wii Fit, SMG, or whatever then? The Wii is classified as an innovative console. What have the PS1/PS2/PS3/PSP brought that are much more innovative than those?

 

Wii Sports is only innovative (if you count out plugNplay) if there's a Wiimote

Wii Fit is also all about hardware

SMG is great but I don't remember seeing anything innovative.

As for Sony software throughout the years.

PS1 - GT

PS2 - SoTC

PS3 - ??home? or LBP. Dunno yet too early

PSP - Patapon.

Is that not innovative enough?

The PS3 has show massive innovations like Eye of Judgment, EyePets, fl0w, PixelJunk Eden, LocoRoco, Patapon, Gran Turismo, Flower, all the rest of the PS Eye and EyeToy games. How about true 3D console gaming.

come on because a game sells doesn't mean it is innovative.
It is silly to talk about innovations for any console and count tens of innovative games. If there are so many innovative games then those games are not so innovative.
Through the years i can call innovative Super Mario 64 as it show the world how a 3d game must be. Maybe WIIsports is an innovative game because is the first game to use motion sensing technology. The tech demo with the glass of water that sony show at E3 2006 for its new eyetoy was an innovative idea but not a game.
Generally speaking it is very hard to define the term innovative game and it is much harder to point out which games are innovative and which are not.
