Forums - Sony - Sony is the most innovative game producer

sony has been taking alot of chances the past year
most of the games they are really pushing are kinda new and interesting
LBP, Flower, DCU online
now if they can stop hyping shooters they could continue this path

Chances?...please dude, they want to reach the casual market. Games like Flower are aimed at the casual.

I don't really believe that innovation is a quality that is (really) an inherent quality of a company ... Most companies end up having cycles where they're more or less innovative which is primarily driven by their (expected) needs in the market.

If you're fully expecting third party publishers to fulfill the known needs and desires of existing consumers you expect that people will be looking for far more unique software experiences, and you're far more likely to greenlight any unusual project.

Sony is the most innovated game producer for PSN, PSP and PS3 games. It first started with the release of Locoroco. The game was praised for its music and simple platforming gameplay. Then came Patapon, which was praised for its mix of wonderful art, music and action. At E3, it was announced that there will be squels to both of the games.

(not by me)

am I the only one who smiled right there?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

lol...that post made me laugh ^_^
doesn't that mean anyone who makes games that sell well is an innovator?

I mean..there have been games like that made by nintendo BEFORE they came out on a sony platform....

someone is trying to prove they suck at history again...

That's good. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo SHOULD be the best/most innovative developers of their respective consoles.

Yeah... i mean they do know the hardware best...

What funny is that nobody read the actual OP... and are now apparently argueing that MS and Nintendo are more or less innovative on Sony consoles.

I can see a case being made for Microsoft indirectly being a big innovator on the console. The online services offered via the PSN are clearly being modeled after Xbox Live. You qould have to put forth online services as the premier part of the console (as opposed to games) though and I don't think anyone would argue that.

If I made the console and some other company made a better game than I did on my own console, I would be ashamed.

But I think Sega was the most innovative on their own console. VF2 on Saturn, that was the WTF momment in gaming history for me. How the fuck can you make a game so good on this piece of crap Saturn that is supposed to not be able to do good 3D?

Dreamcast failed in that aspect. Namco made the most innovative game on the Dreamcast. Soul Calibur was so good, no other game came close to matching it on that system. It was a freaken launch title too.

Why? Would it be better if they made this better game on your competition's console?

No, it's the fact that a 3rd party developer can make better games on a system compared to a 1st party developer is shameful.
