Heavy Rain IS a new game. 4 Screenshots do not count. Looks pretty amazing. Although I would like to hear more about gameplay/story background.

From what I read in the liveblog it seems it has the same shitty gameplay ( all references to QTE sequences ) of Indigo Propechy.

You can see that in the video.  I hate QTEs, because they make you focus too much on the symbols rather than the entirety of what's going on.

Many people loved Indigo Prophecy for whatever reason, though.

heavy rain was already announced...

Yeah but the only thing we had were 4 screenshots and a name. (And Indigo Prophecy was very cool)

The way they've integrated the button commands into the scene seems to force you to pay attention to what's going on.

Indigo Prophecy certainly wasn't perfect, but it did offer an experience like no other game. That's where the love comes from.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

It has been very bad ...to casual oriented.Almost as bad as the MS and Nintendo conferences.

I suppose that being in Germany they couldnt announce any bloody game ...and thus far the selecion of games with Heavy Rain ,Little Big Planet ,Singstar Turkish ,Singstar Disney ,Eye Pet....

The Eye Pet thing could be a system seller ...it could bring the Nintendogs thing into the living room and with your own hands and not the stylus.Sony has definitely took the advantage here.

Sony doesn't need more new games announced, it needs new games OUT (or at least confirmed release date)

sure, but they could have least shown one game. Singstar doesnt count imo.

LOL Lips owns Sing Star.

I'm sure you'll be rushing out to get that. First day purchase huh?

Um..yeah. I sing so naturally i'll like a game like this. Secondly you can play your IPOD songs on the game and it will include lyrics and will have plenty of online updates unlike Singstar, which i've been playing since PS2 and quite frankly left me wanting more and was pathetic. My friend has the Wii and he buys those group games, I have my own. Kareoke owns when you can sing.

Sony wants to conquer the casuals, that's what they made clear.

Europe has always been more casual than other territories, and they absolutely love SingStar.  This conference was propbably great for them, outside of the extremely hardcore.  And even they got Heavy Rain.

Though I admit Microsoft and Nitnendo's conferences were much better.

your joking right? cuz Nintedo and Microsoft dont have conferences at LEIPZIG

It was heavily hyped, and I was hoping for something from ND, especially as they have been doing several interviews recently, and when asked about their next project they have said that we will know soon...

Anyway, the PSP 3000 does give me very little reason to upgrade, and there was very little new announced

Wii only has like 3 games with mics out so far. I still have doubts about it showing lyrics for Lips. It's a neat concept but I don't know exactly how it will work.

It will recognize files from your IPOD and Zune. If you don't have properly licensed songs you wont be ok in it recognizing the file. Licensed files always have the correct  information. If not you will have to enter it manually. It will most likely have online elements to update the games lyrics from time to time. If Itunes can recognize your songs and connect them with them, Lips can as well. I bet good money Sony will tell the makers of Singstar to do the same.

I think he meant third party conferences...

What did they show for MS? I know they announced a new HotD and released an awesome Mad World trailer for Nintendo...

It was sarcasm.  Nintendo and Microsoft didn't even have conferences, yet people are complaining about Sony not showing enough. :P
