The PS2 launch occured on March 4, 2000 in Japan. The North American launch occurred 236 days later on October 26,2000. Europe was 29 days after the NA launch on November 24, 2000. Today, July the 5th is 236 days since the Launch of the PS3 in Japan (November 11, 2006). Until today all of the comparisons between the PS3 and PS2 [or PS] launches have been between the world wide sales of the PS3 and the sales of the PS2 in only Japan. For anyone wondering it was 272 days between the launches in Japan and North America for the PlayStation (Japan December 3, 1994, NA September 1, 1995, Europe September 29, 1995).
