Does anyone know if ToS got advertised well and got plentiful supply? I mean it sold 550k in NA...

Not sure. I woudln't think it did, but it came at a time when Gamecube owners had NO good JRPGs, and there was nothing big that came out around its time. It saved they're lives.

When I think about it, 60K is not bad if it has as good legs as Viva Pinata did. I mean come on, it sold 20K first week then ended up selling over a million.

This game better have amazing freakin' legs. It is also my belief that the price drop of the 360(which will probably increase sales) will also help this game to see better, as hardcore JRPG fans buy the newly priced console and get ToV. And the shortage in Japan will be fixed either this week or the next, and will probably  boost ToV sales in Japan.

heres to hoping.

60k...I can't tell if this is good or bad.

It's bad.  LO got 100K first week but ToV only gets ~60K first week.  What's with you 360 owners? Don't you want a diverse game library?

What did LO have that ToV didn't?

Hey, don't you generalize me with the rest of the 360 owners. I pre-ordered this(but still had to go out and buy it because the guy off ebay who I preordered it from didn't get his copies promptly).

So yeah, I basically bought this day 1, and I'm  not to be blamed, or generalized within a larger group for idiots not buying the best 360 game released so far this year.

You've got a ton of PS3 n00bs who didn't pick up Disgaea as well, but you don't see me flaming the whole crew.

As always, smart people know which games to buy, and everybody else buys Mercenaries 2. That's always been the way of things, and ignorance isn't gonna end just because a good game was released. Especially if you don't market said game to the general hardly-core audience who not only didn't know it existed, but couldn't find it on store shelves if they did.

So, how do you like them apples?

I also bought the goddamn strategy guide and collectors edition, fyi. I coulda bought a regular copy twice, and I'll NEVER sell this game, ever. I can only say that about this game, CoD4, and Bioshock.

I didn't mean all 360 owners, just the ones that picked up LO but didn't pick up ToV.

/sigh, true. I'm sickened by them a little. However, I will say that it might not have been totally their fault. At least some of them aren't constantly on the internet knowing all game releases and qualities. So, I'm sure more than a few of them never even heard about Vesperia. These are also the types of folks who read gaming magazines as their news sources(n00bs), and the mags weren't nearly as praising about ToV as the internet was.

However, anyone who did buy LO, knew about the game, and who know and are able to read reviews from Gamespot, IGN, and users in general, have no excuse, except the economy, and even in that case, you still fail in my eyes.

It's like, man, Disgaea 3 is so great, lol, but look at all the PS3 fanboys on this very site who didn't even give it a look. We've got people here desperate for games on the PS3, buying Haze and Lair, and they won't buy freakin' Disgaea 3!? WTF man. This makes me nausiated.

I'm not saying that the sales for ToV were terrible, especially considering the advertising and supply, but just one example of someone buying Infinite Undiscovery or Merc 2, and having never heard of Disgaea 3 or ToV, is a little sickening to me. I'm not trying to hate on either of those games....but comeon. Anyone whose played ToV or D3 know, lol. Those other people made a baaad choice and should wise up.

Well said. And I'm sickened right now by them alot, not a little.

but I'm more annoyed at the gross underestimate of copies they expected this game to sell. I hope it idn't discourage any potential buyers.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen a single advertisement for Vesperia either. Haven't seen much for IU either, a few super short clips for Infinite Undiscovery on Comedy Central and then nothing more.

LO actually had some decent marketing. Hopefully this just means ToV will have some really good legs

I doubt it will have good legs, as Tales games usually don't, or so I hear. I wonder what Namco-Bandai was expecting in terms of sales for the US?

Well, as far as we know, they usually don't have good legs in Japan, but maybe they do in the US. I wouldn't think Symphonias first week sales were too much higher then this, so I'm hoping for great legs.

Yeah, I'm also wondering what the expected sales were. Kind of hard to tell what's typical for a Tales game in North America.

JRPGs in general don't have good legs in Japan.  The sales of JRPGs are less front loaded in the US though i.e. Lost Odyssey
