Forums - Sales - Is PS3 REALLY selling that badly?

Well, the ps3 is getting alot more exclusives this year than the 360 for sure and everyone in this forum knows so, uncharted:drake's fortune, Heavenly sword, Lair,NBA 08, Killzone 2, Metal gear solid 4, Warhawk,Folklore, nija gaiden sigma, singstarps3,etc.. I can list more but they dont pop up in my mind. The ps3 would sell better than 360 even if the 360 is priced at 300, an the ps3 priced at $399.99 or $449.99, the reason for this is because microsoft already released a 300 dollar 360 which is quite frankly selling worst that the 20gb 360. But the ps3 riced at or below the 360 elite would sell more consoles than the 360. The ps3 is new, the 360 is old, casual gamers like new things.

Everybody knows the PS3 is getting more exclusives?  The PS3 released 12 games last month, the 360 released 24.  You better back that claim up with a link.

As for some of the games you listed:

Heavenly Sword - The only other game the makers of the game have done is Kung Fu Chaos, which sucked.

Killzone 2 - Killzone 1 got a 6.9 from Gamespot

Metal Gear Solid 4 - It's coming out this fiscal year, which means before April.  If it was coming out in 2007 they would have said so.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma - We'll see how many PS3s it sold next week.

If the PS3 was $400 instead of $600 it would be in first place again this generation.  Too bad that didn't happen.  Also, the $300 360 isn't selling because it's crippled, it's not even remotely worth the money.

PS3 isn't selling that badly I suppose, its just such a stark contrast from being the zenith of gaming to being the underdog. Now that I reflect on the matter, for its price its actually selling pretty darn good. But its money loss is going to be another matter altogether to overcome.

Is the PS3 really selling that bad?

Yes

Ok the PS3 is selling about the same as the PS2 and the PS2 when released didnt have any competition the PS3 as 360 and the Wii to compete with. You dont believe then check the sales out on VGchartz sales graph.
Here the link for your convenience.Just PS2 and PS3 on the graph.

End of 2014 Hardware Predictions (03/03/14)

PlayStation 4: 12-15million

Xbox One: 7-10 million

Wii U: 8-9 million (Changed 01/04/2014 from 7-9 --> 8-9 million)

Gball is back, hurray, we missed you and no matter what others say we like reading your opinions and the fact that you never hold back, go gettem girl

back on topic, I really think time is running ill for the PS3, Sony cannot afford to wait till summer 08 to turn the tides, by then there will be to much catching up to do, plus devs are like women and children they always leave the sinking ship first, eventhough the ship issn´t sinking yet sony can´t afford to wait till the water level gets to high, eventhough games and price are the biggest factors here I think a good marketing campain is just as important, other companys can drop the price and make good games, sony needs hype and it won´t fall from the sky, get the people who made the "this is living" tv spots then go to bizzaro world, find their bizzaro selfs and let them make a new spot, that should work :)

Simple answer Sony has fans in all of the major regions, Microsoft does not. Microsoft does not have Japan or Europe. Microsoft is doing tremendously in America and Australia though. Which explains why their launches are so similar.

360 being outsold in Australia by the PS3 and the only regions the 360 does good in are North America and the UK every where else it is outsold by the PS3 and the Wii.Japan is a lost cause for MS i dont see why they trying to get Japanese devs to make games for it it cant make much of a come back now.Europe is pretty pro PS3 at the moment the Wii isnt really advertised because it been in-stock for a solid month in the UK and no signs of it going out-of stock until Christmas. All HMV,Virgin and GAME are advertiseing are the PS3(in Liverpool atleast).

Here's the one measurement I use for PS3's success:

"The first five million are going to buy it (PS3), whatever it is, even [if] it didn't have games."
- David Reeves, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO

Currently: 75 games released in at least one region; 3.61 million sales.

Forgive me for not bothering to read the thread.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

Just to clear up the chart confusion:

- Japan charts have all systems.
- America charts only go back to PS2, so nothing DC or earlier.
- Others charts only go back to DS, so nothing XB/GC or earlier.
- Others data for PS3 is kinda broken 'cause it somehow has data from before the real launch so launch-aligns don't work right there.

Some valid launch-aligned comparisons that can be made to see how the PS3 is selling:

- PS1 vs. PS2 vs. PS3 in Japan
- DC and GC vs. PS3 in Japan
- PS2 and Wii vs. PS3 in America
- GC and 360 vs. PS3 in America
- 360 and Wii vs. PS3 in Others (PS3 is still offset...)

Unfortunately I can't actually get the charts to work at the moment, it keeps timing out on me.

Dont take VGchartz sales for the real thing(no offense doing a good job of getting them right)i would but the total at nearer 4million due to uncharted areas and not all companies and websites releasing sales data.
