Forums - Nintendo - Third-Party Wii Announcements After E3: Have The Optimists Been Vindicated?

Before E3, many Wii fans claimed that third-party announcements for our beloved white rectangle would begin to pour in starting in the late summer, after that hyped-but-disappointing press conference. However, since E3 has come and gone, those fans have largely been correct. Just look at the third-party announcements we've seen for the Wii since E3:

-Exclusive DLC in Guitar Hero: World Tour

-KORE

-Tatsunoko v. Capcom

-Overlord: Dark Legend

-Dead Rising: CTYD

-Unnamed 1:1 Star Wars Game

-Sonic and the Black Knight

-House of the Dead: Overkill

-SPRay

...and likely at least one or two others that I've forgotten. Also note that most of those are, in fact, exclusive.

Compare that to the third-party announcements, especially third-party exclusives, for the HD consoles - of which there have been precious few - and perhaps Wii fans have been vindicated. Perhaps the tide is indeed turning toward us. Either way, I suspect more announcements to come into the holiday season.

So, what do you think? Is third-party Wii support still too sparse, or is it finally beginning to get its legs while the HD consoles stumble, as the past few weeks might suggest?

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

They didn't really need to be 'Vindicated' because the trend of third party support since the Wii was released, and the public announcements of most large third party publishers, indicated a steady increase in third party support for the Wii. Only a fool would assume that every third party publisher would only devote these resources to producing party games.

So, you're calling most of the people on this forum fools?

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

This is indeed the first of the many. Don't forget Cursed Mountain.

Keep in mind that several 3rd party titles were announced prior to E3 as well such as Tenchu 4, 5 and 6, Spyborgs, Deadly Creatures, The Conduit, etc...

This may be a start but its unsure if support will pick up even more over the next year but at least developers finally decided to take notice of the Wii and develop more interesting new IPs on it.

Pretty sure Tatsunoko vs. Capcom was known before E3. Although it's status as a Wii-title was after E3. Hm.

No, only the handful of very vocal people who assumed that no publisher would produce a quality title for the Wii ...

Since the Wii was released there has been a steady increase in the quantity and quality of third party published titles, and several publishers have been moving more and more towards releasing high quality "Core" games on the Wii. The only people who didn't notice this were the same people who insist on claiming that only party games would be released on the Wii.
