Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Wii Gets 138 games in NA between now and Christmas

Quick, someone calculate the shovelware to "qualityware" ratio for the PS2's 7,000+ titles.

Give me a frikkin break people. Get off the hypocritical shovelware angle.

The PS2 platform is different from the Wii , it had way more marketshare.

The Wii's market share is more similar to it's competitors than the PS2 , despite this the Wii has a poor Quality:Shovelware ratio possibly even outdoing the PS2.

I love how people are going "meh, it's all shovelware" but I can tell without even looking that it's going to average out to 1 top quality game each month and about 4 solid games along with that.
Sorry, but when you think about it, Gamecube barely had any shovelware at all, but the simple fact was not enough games were coming out each month. This is now what is happening for the PS3 and 360. Lots of huge budget, big name titles, but just simply not enough games to bring either system back up on top.

Seen the upcoming releases for PS3/360 before making random comments not backed up by facts ?

Mark my word, between now and the holydays either the PS3 or the 360 will have more games with a metacritics rating of 80+ than the Wii...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

This is called failed rationalization.

The marketshare between Wii and PS2 is irrelevant, it's the status as market leader that gets the flood of crap.

55 titles in one month? Wow! A couple have to be good you would think.

That's what the shovelware publishers keep telling themselves, and that's what my grandpa says everytime he buys a bunch of lotto tickets too.

Seriously though, I think a Barbie Horse-riding game is coming out that month.  THAT is pure genious, from a monetary standpoint, and there's a chance I might even get it.  Have to turn my daughters into gamers somehow. ;)

That game will light the way for 3rd party development -- Barbie pwns PC gaming... and now she's coming to the Wii.

the truly great games arnt till 2009

Out of those games, 15 are probably worth purchase, that is $600-750 worth in 3 months. Can anyone here spend that kind of money?

Oh yea, I don't think Rygar is coming this year either. The 12/2/08 release date means nothing, just like all the other previous Rygar release dates. They just hold you off until the next delay.

Gaddamn, this is gonna be a busy Fall season between work, university, social life, and GAMING...  Of all those games, I'm interested in:

9/22 - Wario Land: Shake It!  (MUST HAVE)

10/1 - Monster Lab

11/11 - Mushroom Men

          - Call of Duty: World at War

11/18 - Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World    (MUST HAVE)

          - Tomb Raider Underground

12/2 - Rygar: The Battle of Argum

12/15 - Little King's Story

12/22 - Deadly Creatures

Here's hoping Little King's Story and Deadly Creatures get delayed to Q1 2009.  I doubt Rygar will make it out this year too.  We shall see.  But even if half of those games turn out well, this is gonna be a very great Autumn for the Wii!

That list seems to be what I will be getting but it will change depending on what games are coming out in japan.

I'm counting 6 I'm definitely going to buy and another 20 I will probably/possibly buy. Sometime between now and Christmas I need to make a bunch of money.

The bad thing is we have to wait a couple of months, after that I think the 3rd party drought will come to an end. I wonder what the next excuse will be.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Realistically I don't have enough free time to even get my full enjoyment out of 3-4 of those games. Looking at the list, I'm going to have to decide on what games not to get. Since I'm still waiting to get Fire Emblem, another one of these new games is going to have to not be bought by me :(
