Forums - Gaming - GH:WT or RB 2

Rock Band 2.

As much as the song set in GH:WT is nice, I at least have the comfort of knowing every dime I spend on new songs works in RB2.

Also, I don't get it - why are the drums better in GH:WT again? I am just going to upgrade my RB1 drum set with the cymbals and save $$$....GH:WT is making you (yet again) put more money down for new stuff while Rock Band is ensuring 100% of your stuff stays backwards and forward compatible.

The only thing GH:WT has over RB2 is Metallica's Death Magnetic album launching.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

^^Well 4 people that dont own Rock band (like me) have to but the whole thing...between the drums of GH and Rock band (I used to play the drums) i'll take Guitar hero's any day(Still have to they it first, but by the looks...). RB's drums suck big time, i dont like them that much. GH looks way better...and there's word that the instrument can work 4 both games....if thats the case, ill just get the whole GH:WT pack, and get rock band 2 (game only) and enjoy!!!

And of course, song creator...BIG plus!!!!(GH:WT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>RB 2)

The current RB drums are not velocity sensitive. They are also plastic pads which make a lot of noise and feel like crap. Both the RB2 and GH:WT drums have velocity sensitivity and rubber pads. The rubber pads will give a much better bounce and won't make that annoying clacking. The velocity sensitivity will allow each pad to create different sounds from soft taps to hard hits, without VS every hit sounds exactly the same.

However I think GH:WT drums are far superior in that it comes with included cymbal pads as well as midi expandability. The midi feature alone is enough to win me over.

And the user created content means you'll be able to get lots of extra content for free, although without vocals.

Also, you're wrong that GH:WT doesn't support BC with instruments. The older guitars will work, it just won't have the new features.

probably GH:WT....the drums, the song creator....the song list....everything seems better to me in GH. But if the instruments can be used for both....why not?

Pretty much what I was thinking.

@Kingofdolphins: Why does it matter if anyone gets money hatted?

@stevencan'tread

my problem is that why should I wait for a game that is done, but refused to be released because another company paid for it?

Microsoft paid for the 'loss of profit" because they want it on their console first... so as a PS3 owner, why should I give RB2 my money again?

Thanks for answering.  I didn't know that. (BTW, thanks for playing along with the name thing.)

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

I am getting GH:WT for my wii and if my bro gets RB for the 360 then I don't have to chose which to get. I am leaning more toward GH:WT since it has song editor and better song list IMO.

too bad that rb was made by the guys who made gh2 and wt is made by the guys who made the (relatively) bad gh3.

i will be getting both as sony has made sure that both will work on my rb set.  if it was one way or another it would be rb2.

I think its more than just a little disingenuous to say that (the bolded part) given the robust editor, given GHTunes, given GHMix, and a bevy of other customization features that simply won't be in RB2.  Are you honestly trying to discount all of those features as irellevant? What am I missing here?

FYI - They've confirmed GH3 DLC will be made compatible with WT and going forward new DLC will be compatible as well.  I think its a bit understandable considering the addition of new instruments.  And on the subject of new instruments the GH:WT instruments will work with RB for 360 owners at the very least. They haven't confirmed or ruled out the Wii/PS2/PS3 isntruments as well to my knowledge. Personally, I really hope both companies get fully on board the compatability train and cooperate with each other.

As for the drums the RB1 drums are not velocity sensitive and will need an upgrade to stay 100% compatible. You yourself in the this post said you're going to upgrade your drums. But then how can you complain about GH making people put more money down to stay fully compatible if RB is requiring the same thing?  How exactly is the RB stuff staying 100% bw/fw compatible if you need to upgrade the drums? Not to mention the problems many folks have had with the RB Guitar and having to replace it already.

In any case you would fall into the later category of folks I talked about (non-Wii RB1 owner) and so it makes good sense for you to get RB2 and not clutter your living room with another set of instruments.  But I really don't know how you can honestly say someone who doesn't have RB1 should pick up RB2 over WT though, they will be paying for all the instruments regardless of which they buy, they have no DLC to consider, no RB1 songs to import, and when it boils right down to it WT will always have far more music for them to play (and they won't have to spend cash to get new songs unless they want to).

I'm looking at this from a point for point perspective and I don't really see how RB2 is a better choice for anyone but (non-Wii) RB1 owners.

To Each Man, Responsibility

if either i wil get GH for the song creator

nintendo fanboy, but the good kind

proud soldier of nintopia

Both. Personally I think the RB music selection is better and their charts aren't a schizophrenic mess (which sometimes are fun to play but sometimes just get annoying). However, the GHTunes and song editor show too much promise to ignore. And RedOctane has always made quality instruments so i'm sure the drums will be sturdier plus that guitar with the slide looks pretty sweet.
