Yes another unassuming consumer completely convinced that lesser systems are completely obsolete in the path of the monumental blu-ray format and the power of the cell processing cpu unit 9000.

Glory be to an Internet that spawns such avid consumer advocates. Those which give nothing short of pure, righteous indignant opinions on subjects of consumer electronics, without a hint of the ever-growing cloud of bias surrounding the entheusiasts press and supplicant commentators.

You are absolutely right, the Sony consoles are the only worthy players in the medium of interactive video-gaming. No one, knowing all the facts, would jip themselves by purchasing a Wii or a 360, when the PS3 is such a moderately priced piece of future-proof masculinity. It boggles the mind how Sony can afford to sell it for under a thousands United States Dollars.

TC, to me, you are a hero of the Internet, and I salute you. Your posting history, to me, reads like Robert Frost.

And your posting history to me reads like something I can't mention or else I would get banned for insulting people again.  Seriously, have you ever posted anything positive about Sony? or in a Sony thread?  even though I can't remember if you ever have, you always show up saying anti Sony stuff or insulting pro Sony people (there is a difference between a pro Sony person and a Sony fanboy btw).  Your history with all the bans tells me that the mods might agree with me a bit.

Yes there is a difference between a fan and a trolling fanboy and if you think this thread doesn't lean quite heavily on the fanboy side...you may want to re-examine your definition of each.

I've always wondered, how DO you avoid being called a fanboy?  Is owning all systems in question from release, playing (and owning) at least 10 games for each system (the best exclusives) and judging their merits not sufficient?  I used all three systems, owned them all for over a year and found two out of three lacking for different reasons.  The Wii I would consider rebuying if something changes next year, I sold it for lack of near future prospects not lack of prospects for all time (why hold on to something if you're not going to use it for the next year?) but the 360 I have been roundly disapointed by over and over.  Yes I bought an Xbox too and played its best games when it was heavily discounted on the runup to the 360.  If you play all of a consoles best games (including Halo 3, Gears of War, Viva Pinata ect) and try everything that suposedly makes it better and find it worse how does that make you horridly biased?

I tried both and the PS3 is better then the 360 in every single way from better exclusives to better graphics in exclusive games to great free online to Blu ray playback to network capacity to playing divx movies from the hard drive ect ect.   If something IS better in every way and you say so after trying both you are a impartial person who makes a choice between two options.  How does choosing the PS3 as my vastly superior option make me some blind fanboy?

I like the PS3 most because it is the best console in features I want (I want a quality HD device),  I would have no qualms about switching if it was otherwise.  I switched from Nintendo exclusive to Sony in the N64 generation when the N64 couldn't handle the games I wanted to play (notably FFVII) and would switch from Sony if they were not the best option.  They ARE the best option however for at least the rest of this generation unless you can give me a single 360 feature (and don't use games I can also play on my gaming PC) that is superior to the PS3.  I can think of 20 PS3 features that are superior to the 360 off the top of my head from using both.

This whole reply is just your opinion. PS3 is not the BEST option. They may be the best option for you...and that fine but if they were the best option, they wouldn't be in last place losing money for each console sold.

I don't know how far back my post history goes but when I joined this site I never said a bad thing about the PS3...because I didn't own it. However I purchased a PS3 for MGs4 as I am a huge fan of the series. I played about 6 games and a month later I sold it as I understood where PS3 fits in this generation. It’s basically a "me too" console which save for a few good 1st and 2nd party developed games will offer nothing that won't be done on the xbox360 and done better.

All the hype, all that BS sony sold to consumers makes me think of the bullshit they were selling with ps2 when it launched. That system took off without a single good game for almost a year only because it had a DVD drive and was a successor to PS1. PS3 tried to do the same trick as they were promoting bluray and the fact its a "PS2 successor" rather than making games...and it showed as people were starved for good games for quite a while.

So we have a successor to ps2 the highest selling console in the world, combined with a bluray drive...which is supposedly the next big thing everyone wants and sony slashing the price of this bundle of technology to the point they are still losing money on it almost 2 years in...And Sony is barely outselling the 360 worldwide, if at all...which at this point has...umm only games to work with. PS3 is the best gaming choice? I don't think so...

I don't think IU is going anywhere but the 360. Luckily I'm not that torn up about it since it's a Tri Ace game (just published by SE) and will probably be a middling action RPG as their games tend to be. I've played at least 4 or 5 Tri Ace games and have yet to play one I would consider "must have". Come to think of it I can't think of a must have I've played from Square Enix since the merger. All the greats like FFX, Parasite Eve, Vagrant Story, FFVII, Kingdom Hearts ect were from Square before the merger after Enix was added its been this group of rehashes which are bordering on shovelware. I mean they make a console game and its a chocobo mystery dungeon game? Come on, wheres a real console RPG from SQUARE not as publisher but developer?

The only JRPG for the 360 I'm really interested in is Eternal Sonata which is finally headed to the NA PS3 with extra content/characters. With Disgea coming this month that's more then good enough for me :D.

Research your purchase of Eternal Sonata. I found it dissapointing, though others thought it was great.

My particular gripes were the relatively shallowness of combat, and lack of significant character development and quality story through the first half of the game.

People who don't like this game will probably grow bored of it around the 15 hour mark. Others, however, have found it very fun. I must admit, the battle system was addictive at first, and the bosses were a blast.

If I were to do the game a disservice and review it, I would also note that the game feels like a "Tales of" lite, with a lack of depth, development, and....love that the average Tales game posesses. It will be remembered as the first playable-good JRPG on a HD console, but I must admit that I will be very dissapointed if the new JRPGs about to be released are somehow worse than ES.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt, however, as when I played ES the first time, I was preoccoupied with several other games I was itching to finish, at that time.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

@disolitude I honestly have no idea what you were saying in your last post other then you bought then sold a PS3. I don't understand your argument about losing money on each console sold in particular. You do realize companies lose money for including too many features which is positive for the consumer right? I mean they could have lost less money without it, but I'm glad it has a Blu Ray drive since I use that drive regularly with my HDTV.

I miss how the PS systems are the me too systems in any way. Sony invented the model of going after the teen+ adult gamer market with the PS marketing relative to the N64. The hardcore gaming niche is far more the realm of the playstation brand. You can see that when the 360 fanboys crow about getting games that have already been on the PS systems for several releases. The PS3 has a vastly superior feature set and many capacities the 360 does not.

My favorite example is for 100 dollars I was able to get a 320GB PS3 by putting a 3rd party hard drive in (which MS doesn't allow, you must pay 170 dollars to get a measly 120GB hard drive). I now have moved a great deal of movies, TV shows and music to the PS3 with room to spare. I can use it to watch all kinds of DIVX rips of TV shows, digital movies, blu rays and more which is much harder with the 360 (particularly with the limited hard drive space.) If the 360 is a better buy as you claim do you have any reason for thinking so? I have listed many reasons the PS3 is superior through this thread and would be happy to list dozens more if need be.

@ Zen I know what you mean with the gameplay, I tried it as a 360 rental for a bit then moved on to other things. I decided I was just going to hold off for the PS3 version since I had better things to play at the time (think I had just gotten Uncharted) but I did not have a wholy negative experience. I found the story to be par for the course for bandai games (they are more then a little childish in presentation, which is to be expected from the company that brought us power rangers) but the action combat system was interesting. It certainly towered above Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey which both almost caused me to lose my will to live after only hours of play. I'm just hoping Sonata isn't a full price game at release, if it is I might wait even longer for the lower priced version.

I didnt say PS systems are "me too" systems. Only ps3...and only when it comes to games.

Here is how most PS3 vs xbox arguments play out.

PS3: But its got bluray

360:better games

PS3:I can upgrade hard drive

360:better online to play my games

PS3: I have built in wireless

360: better games

This is the core of my argument here. After having a ps3 I literally blew through all the games I wanted to play on that system in a month. For a gamer PS3 will never be the best choice. For a Sony playstation brand fan...yes, for a technology geek sure...for an avid movie watcher...bluray is the way. For a gamer however PS3 is just not there this gen.

Also, I saw sonys ps2 demolish the dreamcast on the basis of "we are better because we have DVD drive and an emotion engine graphics processor" despite not having any games that could match Dreamcasts library for over 2 years. And Im very glad both nintendo and microsoft are sticking it to them this generation...after they tried to pull the same BS with PS3.

I don't have any issues with him having one system, but I just don't get the point in getting RID of a system you already own. I mean, okay, so there are a lot of games you don't want, it's not like you have to buy those. I saw a lot of imagine games for the DS, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to play elite beat agents, or from looking forward to N+

I can understand getting rid of the 360 for the reliability and the number of games they have in common, but Wii offers a totally different playstyle, and you KNOW there are going to be games on the Wii that will NEVER show up on other systems. Even if you only see 1 game that you might want in the future, if you sell your system now, you'll have to buy the game AND a system when the game comes out, instead of just the game.
I can understand it to a certain extent. I actually got a PS2 for christmas, but asked for a gamecube instead, since I wanted to play smash bros, but didn't have any PS2 games I was interested in, but then I found out about Kingdom Hearts and DDR and I ended up having to go out and get the system again.
In my case, I at least had the excuse that I was getting the gamecube instead of the PS2, so if you similarly wanted a PS3 and needed to sell your Wii to get it, I could understand that, but why get rid of a system you own, when all you're doing is cutting yourself off from any potential there is to play games on that system, or for that matter, to play any of the games that you do currently like on the system? Shovelware or not, I just don't see how it's possible to nnot have ANY games that you're interested in on a console.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

I love how people always talk about these mythical "better games" on the 360. I haven't seen a good 360 exclusive game in almost a year now and don't see any in the next few months now that Too Human and Ninja Gaiden 2 tanked (NG2 was WAY worse then the original having played both). On the other hand there are plenty of great games over the last few months and into the next few months for the PS3.

The only two 360 games you can bring up through the end of the year will be on the PS3, as are all the good past 360 games. The better 360 games argument is a complete fabrication.

ninja gaiden didn't tank...its a solid AA game and sold marginally well for being a hardcore game. the original was one of the best games last gen. This one did not bring as much to the table but its still better than any PS3 exclusive this year appart from MGS4.

Anywho, a ps3 fan arguing PS3 has better games than 360 is like human having a pissing match with a skunk.
