Those may not be ...but Little Big Planet ,Heavy Rain ,Motorstorm ,Resistence ,White Knight Story ,Heavenly Sword ,Infamous ,most of the PSN games and many others ARE new franchises.Sony brings new franchises each generation.Nintendo doesnt ....well sometimes it throws one new as Pikmin but relies mostly on their old Kart/Zelda/Mario/Fzero/Smash games that arent really innovative right now.But now it has found the Holy Grial of Casual (cheapo and simple ) games and it will stick to it for some years.
Defending Nintendo is getting really old.

Oh really? Here i will go through the games you listed and match every single one.
Little Big Planet
Heavy Rain
Motorstorm
Resistance
White Knight Story
Heavenly Sword
Most PSN games
so that's a total of 7 "new" franchises (looks more like 7 new games to me). Heavenly Sword is average to below average, white knight story , Heavy Rain, and Little Big Planet aren't even out yet. Resistance is a slightly above average shooter and Motorstorm is a slightly above average racer.
So i guess i need to come up with 7 games to match? Very well, Most Wiiware games, Disater: Day of Crisis, Wii series, The Conduit, Madworld, and De Blob, wow that was hard. Wait let me guess, you want them all to be from Nintendo right? Well if that's the case you have to remove White Knight Story, Heavy Rain, Heavenly sword, and most PSN games from your list since they aren't developed by Sony's first or second parties..So that only leaves me with 3 "new" games, i already mentioned 3 directly from Nintendo. If you just count it as being published by Nintendo or Sony the list for Nintendo becomes gigantic.
There is nothing wrong with a series, for example if you take out the main series there is no reason to have a PS3, Wii, or 360.
