It took me a while to finally play it, since I have no PS2 in house, but the wait was worth it.
It's one of the finnest games ever made and I've decided to dedicate something special to it. Take it as a poem review or a mere tribute, for all the inspiration Okami fleshes out.
To Okami
Once upon a time there was a god and a brush
A world in need and a villain to crush
The land tainted by the foul deeds
Of an ancient evil that still breaths
His nemesis a goddess, from the sun descended
In the form of a wolf, white as peace
Companionship found, Issun named
A talkative fellow, slick as grease
From a small village to the whole of Japan
This canvas extends its playground
Where animal gods wait for the one who can
Harness the brush and the taint unbound
Painted in watercolour so pleasant was to stroll
But there were also vile enemies in such a beautiful world
Swift and agile was the goddess in her white wolf shape
But when she called upon the brush, there was no escape
It coiled the wind and shattered stone
Cleaved enemies from flesh to bone
Changed day into night
Helped us to rid of the blight
This canvas sprouted scenes so unforgettable
From the deadly foe to the funny character
As the white wolf becomes a strong contestant
To defy the villain of ill ophidian brethren
The hour drew nigh and the hero did not falter
Defeating the provoker of the blighted cancer
Painting his demise with the skills of a ballet dancer
In a world where art and style combine and matter
A portrait of Japan as divine as the main character
Breaking the boundaries and leaving us in yearn
Oh Amaterasu, please someday return
