Forums - Nintendo - Can we say that at least 1% of the world population owns a Wii?

Well right now almost 31 million wiis have been sold WW, and we know that a console isn't normally owned by just one person, most times there are siblings or couples using the same console.

You don't really "own" a retail product unless you've paid for it, so I'd still say it's less than 1 percent. But why would it even matter?

I'd say by 2014, that number will increase by 1000%.

EDIT: Typoes are annying.

@Dtewi. So 2% will own one?

31 million/6600 million

.0046

So it's probably in 1-2% of all households

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Theres over 6.66 Billion people in the world. So there would have to be roughly 66.6 Million Wiis sold for that to be the case.
I don't think "joint ownership" counts. If it were to come down on the left side of the equation than it must also come down on the right.

i.e. 30m families own wii : Xb families worldwide.
which of course makes it a completely different statistic.

I think should be less than that. More like 0.6% maybe.

I was just wondering if 1 of every 100 people in the world owned a Wii...

I really think that joint ownership should count, why? because if I had a wife and I bought a wii then she wouldn't have to buy it if she wanted it, she would use the one I bought right?

maybe we could say "plays it often" instead of owning...
