Don't steal movies and it wouldn't be a problem.
Don't steal movies and it wouldn't be a problem.
As long as there are pirated copies of movies being made, you can expect DRM. Average estimated loss to the movie industry is in the billions per year. If it was my product, and I needed funding for my next movie, I would not want my shit stolen. Renting and burning is also a problem. If you think that renting and burning is alright, you are an immoral person.

lol, I don't steal movies. My GF has about 200 DVD's, mostly TV shows that she likes to watch. I hate seeing all the DVD's stacked up next to my PS3, so I thought I would rip the 10-20 that she watches the most, and put them on the 360.
My PS3 has a 60 gig drive in it, my 360 a 120 gig. I figured for watching ripped video, they would both be equally capable. I guess not :(.
Oh well, I can live with the mess, or throw a 250 Gig HD into my PS3. (they are $99 right now at NewEgg).
Thanks for the help everyone. :)

I understand what you are doing. But, a few bad eggs can ruin it for everyone else.

I think external drive would be a better solution you can easily transfer movies and music.

You can buy AnyDVD HD from the net and it will strip every DRM from HD "premium" content. So DRM is not for stopping pirates but for controlling normal consumers. If you like that being done to you have fun in your nice world. |
If it stops some of them, it is a success. If it makes it just a little more of an inconvenience for the common man to pirate a movie, it is a success.

I include copying rented movies in the pirating category. |
Nobody is talking piracy.
I put all my DVDs on my external HDD so that I don't ruin the discs and so I can watch them when and where I want... I've never pirated a movie or song, ever.
In fact, I am the most anti-piracy person on this site and I am also anti DRM. Because DRM hurts me, not pirates.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Your disc is the gateway that the company allows you to recieve their content. The one and only gateway. If they wanted you to have it digitally, they would release it as such. Since they created the product, they should, and do have a say in how you watch the said content. Putting it on an external HDD is illegal. It is an unauthorized copy of their content. You paid for the disc gateway.
