I don't agree with timed exclusives nor really anything that a true exclusive - developed only for that console, period, preferably by 1st or 2nd party developer.
I understand developments costs have gone up for a large HD game but I believe developers need to make their minds up and either go true exclusive or true multi-plat.
I understand MS strategy is to buy rather than develop, so this has to be taken into account. But really that model sucks for the gamer and if MS want true exclusives then I suggest they grow their own development capability again. As for games like RB the upshot is that I didn't buy it at all as I just don't want to back that kind of timed exclusive in the slightest.
I also think that apart from Japan the install base of PS3/360 is now large enough that timed exclusives aren't going to drive console sales anyway, so apart from some easy money up front developers have no good reason to commit to them IMHO.
I say apart from Japan as clearly both PS3/360 will see spikes there with decent timed exclusives as ToV shows. Still not liking it there though.
In short the best response if you really don't like this is to make as much noise as possible on multiple gaming forums and don't buy the games at all. I suspect most developers wouldn't like to trade half their potential sales for the sake of 3 to 6 months exclusivity on another console.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
