Timed-exclusivity is a trend I have started to see happening the end of last-gen. It sucks now for the company getting later because the old news factor does affect sales. However, I don't think hardware sales are affected by timed exclusivity. One game doesn't usually sell a system (except for a few) but those are usually always exclusive.

I chose the PS3 over the Xbox 360 because of the games that was coming out for it at the time. To be honest, I didn't care about Blu-Ray either. I'm not trying to sound like some fanboy but, it's just annoying to have to wait LONGER.

Also, the timed-exclusive crap came months after I made my PS3 purchase so I had no way of knowing if any game would recieve timed-exclusivity.

As much as I hate the way ymeaga1n said it, hes absolutely right. The reason i chose 360 over PS3 is because I coudln't find many games on it at all, and the 360 had quite a list. So I don't exactly understand what you meant by "the games coming for it at the time." Did you buy it at launch, or a different time? Also what were the games?

P.S. Most people who already have a PS3 and are mad about the 360 deals will probably be glad to know the 360 is gonna be only $199 in September. So theres always tommorwo, as they say.

I agree. One timed exclusive will not move hardware, but on the whole they will effect peopls decision when they want to purchase a console.

Average person would love to have both ps3 and x360, and a wii for that matter, but they cost money. If one console is getting timed exclusives, combined with the fact that x360 has great exclusives by itself, people are gonna go buy an x360 first. I would and most gamers which don't care which name is on the front of the box will.

Well, I bought my PS3 last January. The games I'm referring too were MGS4, FF13, Uncharted, Tekken 6, Resistance, and others. Though, The 360 had an outstanding lineup at the time, it just wasn't as appealing to me. Regardless, I'm looking forward to the sweet $199 deal.

He did get the PS3 for its games and future releases as mentioned in his lastest post.

Well, ignoring for a moment the fact that MS pays developers for said timed exclusivity.

The fact is, most PS360 games are still developed for the 360 and then ported to the PS3 - so it makes sense for them to release the 360 version when it's done, rather than waiting for the PS3 version to be done

Maybe its b/c of the extra time it takes to put on the finishing touches of a PS3 game and smooth out the Cell architecture. The extra time is prob. better for devs anyway.

 It's funny that you mention this point. If that is what should happen, then explain why PS3 version of FF13(not including Japan) is going to be delayed until the 360 version?
