LAN means Local Area Network.
It means you can connect Wii's together for multiplayer (I think you need a TV for each)
With the Wii I believe it does this wirelessly, unlike GameCube which needed wired connections (8 player MK:DD FTW!)

I don't think split screen would work well because ridicoles could overlap easily. Also Interesting interview.
Pixel Art can be fun.
This game is going to be really good. If it's on the same level as MP3 with of course more action and less exploring (which is what I expect) It'll be a must buy.
The headtracking makes me interested...
end of core gaming days prediction:
E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced
E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.
E3 2010- Tape runs out
