Forums - Sales - PS3/Xbox 360 gap got bigger?

You are using VGChartz data as a proof when I actually have a problem with these numbers. It's hard to belive the PS3 didn't sell at least 2 million in the first month in USA/Japan/EU combined.

"It's hard to believe" isn't a very good argument.

Do you remember that PS3 launched around the same time as the Wii? And that it was overpriced as hell, leading to the Wii60 meme? PS3 had a horrible launch.

PS3 was slowly dying
before the 40gb release (-7.4 M compared to Xbox360 around november 07)

Time to Work !

As far I remember the lauch was good, just not the months after.

The 360 love will continue throughout this holiday season, with the new price point, but after that its all PS3, assuming enough developers stay onboard with the PS3 after this holiday season. I actually think the Wii will see a bigger hit this year than most think, due to the $199 360 Arcade taking over as the cheapest next-gen console.

Well you know count in 05, 06 and 3/4 of 07 means that it has outsold it so far since launch.

End of '08 predictions (made by theprof00): PS3: 20m, 360: 23.5m, wii: 42m

Now Playin':  PS3|Resistance 2, LBP, Uncharted and Fifa 09, PSP| Ratchet and Clank: Size matters, 360| Gears of war 2 and Fallout 3.

You remembered incorrectly.  They sold out at launch but they were very limited as far as supply.  Also they did not launch until Spring of next year in Europe and Japan launch was earlier than the USA.

While PS3 sale have improved from '07 they are still long way yet to catch 360 this is because 360 a year head start plus better sale number for most of 2007 for 360.
