You would have to consider the fact that Blu-Ray had most of the major studios behind it...


And also the ps3 price cut was last year..... MGS4 came more than 7 months later....

Um...the PS3 price cut/model closeout came right before MGS4 was released dude. That and MGS4's sales helped raise the PS3 sales by 180%. They dropped price to $399 when replacing a specific model for 120 GB.

Hypoothetically speaking built in HD-DVD player would probably cause the 360 to malfunction even more than it did. And for a higher price than it was it would be quite a stretch for general masses to really want to fork out for such an unstable console.

No way it could have happened though, HD wasn't out in 05.

Had they both launched in 06 and 360 at a higher price, no.

contrary !!! i think the price of ps3 and 360 would have been simillar and ppl would have lean towards the ps3 from the start !! but microsoft knew what is was doing and sold it seperately and suckered the customers to buying a 360 claiming it was cheaper when it was actually selling higher combining the other elements.

all I know is that we would be seeing a lot better quality titles all around if the 360 would have come with the hd-dvd or blu-ray drive. The size restraints of the 360's current disc hold back what is possible in multiplats, size wise not neccesarily graphics or physics or what have you. The 30GB disc of hd-dvd would have been pretty welcome.

Price cut was in november last year, over 7 months before MGS4 and they haven't had a price cut after that. Sure, there was 80GB MGS4 bundle (with BC), however, but it is $499. And there is no 120GB PS3 model. You are probably mistaking it to new 80GB which is replacing 40GB.
