This again? I thought Kojima actually stated that he was displeased with the PS3's hardware in some areas and that it delivered unsatisfyingly according to his wishes when the machine was in the planing and early dev stages.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

He was being Modest, So he didn't want to sound Big headed, so he played down his game. He said this about Snake Eater too

You Misunderstand. He said his game wasn't Top Notch ( This is Japanese culture, not to be an arrogant Jackass,), And also as obieslut mentions he was Mis quoted about The PS3 power part ie bad Translation

I am Japanese, so I try to be modest. I'm especially modest person. I dont wish to brag about it to say "I am the amazing Metal Gear guy" or to say "This is the best one", just like how Americans brag stuff like this... That's why i interview in Japanese, and Mr. Sai (translator) translates my side of the inteviews very well in English. Westerners do not have a tradition of modesty. And so, the statements are translated correctly, but the original meaning is totally different. And those statements are on a totally different website and the meaning totally changes. Regarding my recent comment about my disappointment with MGS4, the comments derived from the article "MGS4, Inside The Biggest PS3 Game" to the post "Hideo Disappointed with MGS4." It's become totally different. This was in English, and here's where it gets strange. Japanese readers then translated that in Japanese and put it on their websites, writing things like "Oh, the PS3 is dead." Then that spread through the internet and now people are writing things like "Hideo Kojima Is Making MGS4 on the PS3." This is no good... It's funny how others think "Did Hideo really say that?" then ask me, and my answer is obviously "No" but then... I guess I am responsible for all of the articles...

Downplaying the power of the game is stupid. If anything, it would make other games strive to match it.

Agreed.  I haven't seen tap dancing like that from an executive in a very long time.  It was sad and amusing at the same time.  I was also disappointed when I realized that, like so many Japanese, he tends to stereotype Americans.  We all brag... none of us are modest.  Yeah, we're all Donald Trumps and Larry Ellisons over here.  And most of us are cowboys too.

But he didn't refute one fact... that the PS3 had less power than he had hoped.

What Kojima basically said in his "clarification" on the first interview was that there was a claim the PS3 could do X, he and his team extrapolated that to mean the PS3 could do X+Y, but they found out the box could only do X, as was originally claimed.  This still means that he was disappointed to discover the PS3 could only do X, and that he and his team would have liked to have taken MGS4 to a higher level, but were unable to do so because of hardware limitations.  There's just no way to get around that without spinning what he said.
