Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

I think this would help a lot. If you have a good gaming computer, there's not as much of a draw toward the 360 unless you're really champing at the bit to play Fable 2, Gears 2, etc. (like me!).

Come to think of it, I haven't seen an actual 360 commercial in a while. I always see them advertising games that end with the little bug and logo, but they never just say "Buy our system, it's rad".

Honestly, short of doing something crazy like a price drop AND a 360-mote, I don't see a lot of ways that they can differentiate themselves from the pack. Of course, if the Arcade started selling for 199 w/ a 360-mote, all the non-gamers would think it's a shitty Wii knockoff.



Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

This doom and gloom crap about the 360's NPD numbers in July is already getting old. I am almost positive that the MGS4 effect lasted into July and it most certainly sold some hardware, though not as much as I thought it would.

Xbox 360 is down one month and all the sudden it's all over? Anyone ever think about the fact that the permanent price cut has been leaked? The 60 GB Pro is supposed to go down to $299 in September. It's all but been confirmed.
