Forums - Microsoft - Even more awfulness from Infinite Discovery

I am yearning for a new RPG on either HD console, but I haven't gotten too excited for this one yet, it looks a bit hack and slash. That's why it reminded me of Dynasty Warriors gameplay wise, it is sure to be more with SE though.

AceRock owns one PS3, one PS Vita, and one PS4.

To be honest, lol, I really can't blame fanboys for this one.

When somebody reads a topic called:

"Look how aweful this game looks"

Then they click the link and there are two videos there, both of which showcase some mediocre english VA....

Then the average person, who is influenced by others perceptions might say, "Yeah, that game looks sucky."

This is more of an issue with perception influencing opinions, with only some of the people unaffected being PS3 fanboys that were only fueled by a topic like this.

If I made a topic called, "More awefulness from LittleBigPlanet" and just posted two trailers, my topic would probably be locked, and I'd be fanboy of the month, lol.

Hate to blame the TC, but can't be helped. Not your fault bro, but you made a mistake.

It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

If a Non-mod had posted that, they would have seen a ban. Anyway to me the 360 Lineup is Trash ( To my gaming habits) you also said this about the PS3

If I did that level of bashing inside the Sony forums, in the same way that PS3 fans come here, and crap on games they can't own, and argumentative volcabulary entirely consists of "it's going to come to PS3 anyway"....Then maybe I would get banned.

However, this is the Microsoft forum. If you want Sony spin, stay in the Sony forum. But this is the Microsoft forum where we discuss games for the Xbox 360. Should it really be suprising that a person wants to actually defend the console he owns, from people that have no intention of owning the console, and want to bash out of spite?

Having said this, in my posts here I have not:

1) Attacked anyone personally

2) Resulted to demeaning, or vulgar language to any individuals

3) Banned anyone. Ever. From debating with me.

I have never used my red tagged name as a symbol of force on these forums. If you were to pull up a list of mods that ban X360 bashing/trolling, I would actually NOT be the highest one in terms of bans.

Furthermore, if you have a problem with my posts, why not quote them and call out any inaccuracies in my statements? If you want to bash me because I'm a mod, feel free to. But it doesn't justify you being here - merely to cause trouble.

The process is very simple here on the Microsoft forums, and everyone does this:

1) Good news comes out for a Xbox 360 game.

2) Xbox 360 owners dicuss the implications of the news

3) Anti-360 Fanboys come in and bash the news, and belittle whatever it means

4) Rebutal from the X360 owners

5) Anti-360 Fanboys either:   a) Avoid the actual subject at hand, since they cannot argue a valid point. b) Accuse the poster of some wild inaccuracy.

Rarely is it a healthy debate. If I call a spade a spade, shouldn't you try to refute it rather than say "He can say that because he's a mod!" --- Why not rebut my argument, and begin a healthy debate, rather than change the subect?

Last I checked, this post was about videos for a great new RPG coming out. I agree that it may not be to everyones taste, but why again, are Playstation 3 owners chiming in on a game not for their system? Lets look at the suspects that are attacking IU:

Gobias (PS2 and PS3 owner)

Word of Wisdom (Unknown)

Masterb8r (PS3 owner)

Diomedes (PS2 owner)

Now, why is it these gamers are allowed to openly bash a game that is not for a system that they own, or plan to own? I'm not saying that you should never post here, but at the same time: Should you really question why we wonder about your biases, when it's pretty clear you don't give a crap about the X360?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Oh, added a new video preview to the OP. Hopefully Jagged doesn't hate me.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Whoa Stick!

That new video you posted was the bomb!

Best yet, I'm actually now super-hyped for this game, lol.

I hope those PS3 fanboys are vocal but still a minority

I hope so as well, my friend. I really do.

I would think it quite obvious.

That said, I think the game looks pretty good. The story is fairly interesting, although I haven't read too much on it.

The voices on all of the attacks do not seem to be annoying as they were in say, Legend of Dragoon... I couldn't play that game past a few hours it so damned annoying.

I expect the story to be one of the better stories in a JRPG in quite a while since it was written by professional writers.

Like I said, the VA is only bad when they are shouting out the attacks.  The normal cutscene VA is pretty tolerable IMHO

SUCCESS!!!

Good job mrstickball, by using joke threads, you have officially weeded out the PS3 fanboys.

My problems with the game are many.

1. Can't level grind, level caps at each area till the end of the game.

You can always grind SP for special attacks....Which is how many beat the game.

2. You basically attack the entire way through the game. You never get the amazing spells, and there really is only very small increases in power. Seth and Kaim attack, back row heals. You might see a thousand damange in one attack, but that's about the max. Poor perception of power increase, mediocre new attacks.

Never used the composite magic, eh? There is a decent bit of good non-attack stuff there, you just have to know how to use it. Much of the damage is done through the ring system, which actually adds a level of strategy rather than using simple do-all attacks.

3. Technical issues. The farther in you get, the longer it takes battles to load. Battles themselves can take 15 minutes. It is endlessly frusterating when you're trying to solve one of the many puzzles in a dungeon. Also, put a fire ring on and the gameplay is terrible.

Not having this issue with my copy. If you hate battles, Sed does have that whole "no random encounters" thing going on.

4. The game is suddenly needlessly hard towards the end. Random encounters require strategy, again, frusterating to hp manage and do 20 minute battles during a puzzle sequence.

Thus why the level caps are done away with. Don't you expect a game to get hard toward the end? Blue Dragon was needlessly easy. Lost Odyssey is a good chance of pace.

5. Character development, and story is poor. I felt genuine emotion towards the end, but the rest of the story is mediocre, and the characters, especially the main one, are bad. Exceptions are Jansen and Seth. I love them both.

Thousand year dreams, anyone?

6. The game is relatively short but unbelievably linear, even for a JRPG. There would never be a reason to revisit.

How many hours did you clock in at to beat it with 1000/1000 achievements (or near it)? Blue Dragon is 50hrs or so to get most of the non-grinding achievements...How long do you need this to be? It's twice the length (easily) of Eternal Sonata or Enchanted Arms.

7. Antiquated gameplay, again taste, I actually would have liked this if it wasn't for the severe technical issues.

Ring system, composite magic, and anti-grinding made for interesting game play. What really did you want from a turn based system? The game focuses far more on strategy, and far less on grinding than the typical JRPG.

i think infinite undiscovery looks very good and i have it already paid off. and lost odyssey is the best rpg this gen, and the best in a few years.

And yes, your in the minority of people that didn't like LO. Most everyone praises the game that played it.

About number 6. I got 800/1000 achievement points and I beat it 33-34 hours. I thought the game was pretty freaking easy once you got past the second boss. I didn't get a Game Over after I got past that. Pretty easy.

@ number 5:

I actually liked the main story but wasn't a big fan of the dreams.

 On topic:

I already have this game pre-ordered and fully paid off. Looking forward to it immensly.

This.

Infinite Undiscovery doesn't appeal much to me...

Bleh, couldn't disagree more. I don't see what people like so much in that game.
