Forums - Gaming - book to game - unique opportunities

Books I would love to see as games:

- One hundred years of solitude

- Big Fish (exists already?)

- Hyperion

These books would pose imo great challenges for creative game design and the underlying storylines would leave even "oscar worthy dialogues" in the dust.

Your opinion?

i would really like to see a real Wheel of Time game. i heard Universal recently paid for movie rights...so perhaps eventually a game will come...

Death to Robert Jordan. He'll never finish the series so he might as well die. I wish he would get on track and focus on the story and not what the Amyrilin Seat had for lunch. As much as I've enjoyed the series Ive never seen a writer fill his books with so much fluff.

That said book to game could work out well.  It worked great for the first Raymond E Fiest game but thats the only one I can think of that turned out well. Movie deal would probably = another Battelfield Earth. A body of text that large should never be taken on by hollywood.

I'd like to see something set in the vein of Stepen R Donaldsons Gap universe or Margret Wise's  Starfire/Xrixs the cyborg stuff or something from C J Cherryh. Barbra Hambleys the time of the Dark series would be my pick for Fantasy adaptation.

No one of you has read Hyperion? This book is so much better than wheel of time and would make for great episodic gaming.

This one?

Started to pick it up one day the cover reminded me of a C. S Friedman book called the madness season which I loved. My have to pick it up next time I'm at the used book store.

Speaking of Friedman the world of the Coldfire trilogy would make for an excellent adpation to Fantasy RPG.

He did, actually. About a year ago.

My first thought, sadly, was something like, "I bet you're done with those books now, you windbag."

OT: Call me crazy but I'd like to see Steven Pressfield's Gates of Fire turned into a game. Pwning with Polynikes would be so money.

Damn did not know that. Oh well it should have ended at book 10 anyway. Looks like they've got someone to finish though although I doubt the've foud someone longwinded enough.

yes, that one. IMO one of the best Fantasy books ever created. Beats Robert Jordan by a mile. And then some.
