Pre-orders make Halo 3 the most popular video game on the Japanese Amazon website.

Last week it was announced that Halo 3 will be released in Japan on September 27 and in somewhat of a shock, the game has been racking up the pre-orders like no tomorrow.

Japanese gamers are typically non-fussed by FPS titles, but it currently appears that Halo 3 could buck that trend. According to Amazon.co.jp, Halo 3 is the most popular video game item, ahead of titles including Dragon Quest Swords, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and the Pink DS Lite.

It's unlikely to remain atop the most popular list, but is nonetheless a positive sign for Microsoft.

So maybe 100k preorder the game, but the game ends up selling 150k. Nothing really to get excited about. Japanese hate Microsoft and they hate FPS's.

Still good numbers for an FPS in Japan yet people are so quick to bash.

Amazing for a FPS AND for a X360 title in Japan... but wtf with that GC game...

Halo will do decent in Japan, but this claim is rediculous, and using amazon a source beyond rediculous. The fact that any GC game is anywhere on that list tells you something already.

The thread title and my comment at the bottom are in jest. The relevancy of Amazon bestsellers and Famitsu Most Wanted is lacking. All in good humor. Besides, you HAVE to be hardcore to still be playing Gamecube games!
