That's a good idea. I did feel previous Pokémon games didn't give enough explanation on how to get balanced parties and movesets, but the tutorials that were there were annoying for experienced users. I'll do both - a comprehensive set of tutorials and an option to skip every single one.

Pokémon is a very good series, the the way. It's easy to get into, but if you want it to be then it is a very deep and rewarding RPG with complex stats.

I stopped after red and blue but the game was an amazing RPG. There weren't many gripes I had... Well, can you make a run button at the get-go (that might be disabled in tall grass?) kinda like chronotrigger?

Optional HM's or external use from HM's... those things should not use up attackslots.

Equipment or accessory's on pokemon? Permanent ones?

Yes indeed. That annoyed me too.

Great idea. I'll make it so Pokémon can learn an unlimited amount of additional HMs that don't use moveslots.

There are Hold Items in games after R/B/Y (e.g. attach the Soft Sand to power up Ground moves). Is that what you mean?

I've been polishing the graphics. Here's the double battle layout - the top screen is closer to the D/P actual, and I've added those Pokeballs on the select screen that tell you the status of each member of your and your opponent's party.

Next up: animations.

New game + please.

Features:

  • All pokemon caught are retained.
  • All items found are retained.
  • All pokedex information is retained.
  • Any miscellaneous items (casino coins...etc) are retained.
  • Pokemon who know HMs have those skills removed.
  • Experience gained X2.

please of please do what nintendo haven't done and will most likely never do in the next pokemon games, and that's....make the battle animation more than 2 frigging frames.

Fun little side progect, but a better use of time would to learn an actual programming language rather then using game maker.

The game DOES work and will eventually do EVERYTHING that D/P can do. It therefore is suitable for this particular thing. The end-user won't see the difference between "real programming languages" and GM.

I plan to transition to ENIGMA, which compiles Game Maker code as C++, is open-source, is cross-platform, and allows me to use C++ code directly when I need to. If you still think GM is a bad language even though in the finished product it will be as fast and flexible as C++, remember it is Turing-complete and as such can encode any possible algorithm.

I have tried to learn C++ but i can't find a tutorial or IDE that produces a stable, non-console window yet. I will probably learn C, C++ or Java when I go to university.

Send you a PM with my feedback but I want to know if you are going to include multiplayer mode?
