Forums - Nintendo - Did Nintendo Screw Lucasarts with Wii motion plus?

Considering both Sony and MS were comming out with their own motion controllers, wouldn't it have been imperative for Nintendo to keep this under wraps as long as possible?

Yea they screwed them haha. I mean that's definitely something they should have told them about. I mean it seems that the people making Red Steel 2 had some inside on the project but Lucasarts didn't. I mean come on Nintendo that's just damn stupid. Hopefully there is a way they can make it so that it can be adaptable to motionplus support.

I take it you don't read every post in a thread?

Please back track and read some of my posts.

The real question is whether or not the upcomming Star Wars the Clone Wars game will utilize Wii Motion+Plus in the end or not.

Not in the initial release because the SDK is only just now going out and the retail product won't hit shelves until next Spring where as the game is nearing completion for a fall release.

Could Lucas Arts re-release the game later with WM+? Possibly. Capcom did that a lot when Sony released the Dual Shock controller on the PS.

Though it's also possible if a storage solution is released early next year that a game update could add WM+ similar to how Lair was update for its control.

it was my understanding that nintendo didnt wasn't even sure they could do mtion plus until a couple of weeks before E3. the tech was way too expensive until that one manufacturer offered them a decent price

@Viper: Why would they add the Motion Plus support by update? The game already have been sold, so it wouldn't turn into additional sales. Lair got its update because of the very bad publicity it had.
When a re-release with Motion Plus support and added content would make sense, since it would sell the game for many who had bought the original and it would have marketing advantages in comparision to a patch.

A valid point but there are many game updates that do not have any effect on sales.   While Lair's update may have been motivated by the poor reception ther is nothing to suggest it wasn't planned anyway.

Take the addition of rumble to many PS3 titles once the DS3 was released.   Why bother when the games were at that point cataloged and no longer on the shelf?

If you want to monetize it, they could charge for the patch via Nintendo Shop Channel.
