Forums - Nintendo - Did Nintendo Screw Lucasarts with Wii motion plus?

Guys, Lucas Arts' game was in development before Motion Plus came to fruition. Therefore Even it Nintendo told them about Motion Plus the game was too far along in development for them to just halt and wait for the new Wii remoter SDK to arrive. Furthermore we do not know how much longer the development of this game would take if Lucas Arts actually had the new SDK. The Developers could have wanted to hire real fencers to do motion capture. Who knows?

Besides Lucas Arts has laid off so many of their development staff and are going through an internal restructuring. They just may want the game to finish development on time and with in the budget that was set for the game.

This article was just another attempt to knock Nintendo and the Wii. What a poor website.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

And any chances to spread F.U.D. on Wii goes on.... *sigh*

The Clone Wars games are chedules to release ALONG with the movie, that way LA can get a lot of money from sales and such. MotionPlus just came too late into development and they can't implpement it without more time.

The developer is Krome Studios, not LA who is just the publisher, and Krome is using the same engine with Force Unleashed that is also for the Wii.

The "not happy" Statement is just anothe excuse to spread the F.U.D. BS all over

Many developers probably felt left outside the loop at the very least.

Even if the M+ control system was in its preliminary stages of development, a heads up would have been a bit more than just a courtesy call to third parties.

What it probably feels like to those who were completely unaware of the new feature, is that Nintendo was planning on keeping under their hat for as long as possible in the interest of capitalizing on the improvements well before any of its third party developers.

On the plus side, it -should- mean that games in the future using M+ functionality will be designed as such from the ground up, rather than having it tacked on as an afterthought.

Seeing as how many developers are already guilty of tacking on standard motion controls without merit, I'd really prefer to see M+ implemented only in games that actually take advantage of the improvement.

Who's actually pissed?

None of the linked articles name names.

It's just one website saying developers are pissed.

Did any of you even read the links?

i could understand wanting the wiimote to be more accurate but 1:1 sword fighting/lightsaber sounds incredibly retarded imo

I thought about this issue already and I think it's not as bad as I first thought. Lucas Art will release the 2 games: Star Wars The Force Unleashed along with the other versions and the duel mode as well as Clown Wars in time for the movie. Once they are done with those 2 projects, they can start working on a new Wii title and announce it/release it in time for next holiday.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Yeah, I had problems finding who exactly is pissed off... Is there an interview I'm missing?  It'd be nice to see some details, rather than just, "We talked to devs, they are pissed!"

At least this may force them to create a new engine from scratch to be used with the M+ for the Wii. Maybe we will see a new starwars game next year or maybe they will never develop for Wii again.

Wow. That little comment section on that thing is full of people who hate Nintendo's practices. I'd like to see how they would handle the best of VGChartz Nintendo enthusiasts. It wouldn't be pretty. However, there is no reason to talk to idiots if those idiots won't listen.

But one thing someone said that I found interesting was:

"Nintendo considers their 3rd-party business partners as competition.........."

Think about that for a while.

I did register to Kotaku a couple of months ago. Kept visiting the site a few days. Got bored to all the retards there.

I actually found interesting what i read when Gamecube came into market, it went something like this:

"Nintendo used to consider 3rd parties as competition, who come to take advantage of the market Nintendo has created. But we don't think that way anymore". And that was Satoru Iwata. Another thing to consider.
