Forums - Nintendo - Best Zelda timeline explanation?

Its not really an explination, but the Angry Video Game Nerds' discussion of Zelda timelines is awesome.

My main complaint about the Gametrailers timeline is that in the Adult Link timeline of OoT, Hyrule has been destroyed, so how could Twilight Princess and the Wind Waker be in that timeline, if Hyrule is still around in both of these games?

My main complaint about the Gamtrailers timeline is that it's rubbish and is one of the worst out there. It contradicts the games immediately with juvenile mistakes like LA not being after LttP. The timeline can get confusing, but there's no reason to screw up the few games that directly state when one another take place.

There was also that nonsense with the Oracle games on two separate timelines, when both games have to happen for the end result in the first place.

their is no time line, I mean how could their be when the creates where stoned when creating their master piece, just look at all the green, clearly they had an influence from hemp. XD

Gametrailers is the best you're going to get I'm afraid. No one else is brave enough to take that many hallucinogins again and create something as convoluted.

Again maybe not but a couple of guys were brave enough to take many more hallucinogens before gametrailers and created something WAY more convoluted: The Triforce of Time Theory. It is my favourite Zelda timeline because of the lulz factor.

what the hell is that timeline nutboy?...

that's crap...you do know that there are a total of two possible started Zledas

Ocarina of Time or Minish Cap..

It's the chronological timeline. It was a genious to put that in here really.

The real timeline is as follows: Wind Waker - Phantom Hourglass - lacking game - the Minish Cap - Ocarina of Time - Link's awakening - Legend of Zelda - Adventure of Link - Four Swords - Link to the Past - Oracle of Ages - lacking game - Twilight Princess - continues from here

The first lacking game involves draining Hyrule, and re-building it.

In the second lacking game, Link re-creates the mirror of shadows, and tries to travel through it. Unfortunately, it doesn't work as expected. Link eventually ends up in The temple of Time, to see that it is once again grandly threatned. Link saves it, and Twilight Princess follows.

It's all very simple.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

there is not overarching timeline. Get over it. Not needed.

@Nutboy: I applaud you.

The game trailers timeline is really wrong.

Anyway...

Adult Timeline: OoT > TWW> PH > TMC > FS > FSA > ALttP > LA > LoZ > AoL > OoS/OoA

Child Timeline: OoT > MM > TP

makes the most sense right now. There are some alterations, but for the most part...(some people like a timeline which is very similar, but has all of the games moved to after TP instead of after PH...and some people think TMC is first but that brings up some oddities indeed)

Another explanation I like is that the games are set in different Universes, example

Universe 1:

Adult Timeline: OoT > TWW > PH

Child Timeline: OoT > MM > TP

Universe 2:

OoT > ALttP > LA > LoZ > AoL > OoS/OoA

Universe 3:

TMC > FS > FSA

Top 3 favorite games: Super Mario Galaxy, The Sims 2 (PC), The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

No Idea I've seen the gametrailers and read www.thehylia.com one from TSA but not satisfied I think we will have to wait the official one from Miyamoto & Anouma.

Miyamoto claims to have a grand-schedule for the Zelda franchise... they are just casually filling in the chapters.

My hope for a zelda is one that lets Link travel through several of his games (perhaps even in the graphical style it was set?) to correct any mistakes in the previous story's. This would then be the final Zelda or something.

You're wrong. The timeline is split, this was confirmed by Aonuma in an interview.

I COULD post some of my timelines here, but I'm not in the mood.
