Forums - Sony - Does the graphics bother you for the PS1 and PS2 games?

I've been playing nothing but the PS3 for about 6 months now and I decided to play a PS1 game for a change. So I popped in good ol twisted metal 4 and then realized how bad the graphics were, (there was also alot of glitches) so then I tried a PS2 game, Shadow of the Colossus and the graphics were better but still no where near what I was use to. Don't get me wrong there still fun as hell but I'm just saying each console is quite a big step in graphics and sometimes I avoid playing them games because of it.

So do you avoid playing PS1 or PS2 games today because of the graphics?

Or do you even care about graphics, as long as it's entertaining?

i understand what you are saying man, whilst playing the ps1 and ps2 games i always look at the screen and all i can see is fault up on fault. i can not stop picking things wrong with it

No, not really... PS1 level graphics are fine with me, as long as there is good gameplay and story.

I regularly play games on different systems and dont care about graphics, its all about the fun for me, and graphics dont take away from that.

I grew up with the NES but I can see how someone who grew up with a PS2/XBOX cant go back to older systems.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

my eyes bleed when i try to play FF7 on my 52 inch tv. Its hard to go from amazing graphics of a PS3 game to a PS1 game.

I played Final Fantasy IX today. The graphics sucked, but I did enjoy it. I like the game's style much more than XII, XIII or even Versus XIII's style. I'm gonna replay FF VIII one of these days as well!

I still regularly play Atari games.

I can only think of two games i've played where the graphics bothered me.

Some crappy fighter named Ballz and FF7.

It does, I tried playing GT4 after playing GT5:P and I wanted to turn it off after about 15 minutes, it hurt to look at.

As in go buy us some coffee.

PS1 - A few games are pretty awful looking, but for the most part they are fine.
PS2 - No complaints besides games that looked awful back when they were released.

Obviously it jumps out when you go play older games that graphics have improved but that shouldn't hinder your enjoyment of it. The only thing that hinders my enjoyment of classic games is older gameplay that has been surpassed to the point it's too awkward to play anymore.

It just isn't comfortable going back and playing Goldeneye on the N64 with the controls used back then but playing SM64 or WWF No Mercy is still a blast.

Definitely not a fan of playing pre-RE4 Resident Evil games. It's one thing to go from Wii aiming to the older controls in RE4 GC. But it's just too much to go back to the pre-rendered backgrounds with a fixed camera that the original games used.
