Forums - Gaming - Who needs to have the biggest E3? NiNTeNDo. MiCRoSoFT. oR SoNY?

Nintendo needs to show that the big guns like SSBB Prime 3 can look a whole lot better then they could on the cube, and also some Mario Galaxy info would be nice.

However PS3 will be under a microscope cuz everyone loves to hate it

From 360 I would like some 2 Human news and i guess Halo but 2 Human that game has been delayed for so long...

  • Who's gonna have the biggest announcements.. Nintendo's Big 3 take the cake here.
  • Whos gonna have the most shocking news ?  I don't see anything shocking unless it's something like a hardcore Nintendo RPG comming.
  • Whos gonna showcase what their console can do the most? Sony, they really need to anyway.
  • Whos gonna announce the most exclusives??  Nintendo
  • Whos gonna reign supreme at E3... Hrmm, probably Nintendo, though I could see Sony doing well with a price cut anouncement and some good trailers.
  • Who's gonna win E3 this year.. Isn't this the same question as the last one?
  • Whos the most underrated... Depends on who you're talking to, Sony from Nintendo fanboys and Nintendo from Sony fanboys lol
  • Whos the most overrated? Microsoft, I don't see much comming from them this year.

* Who's gonna have the biggest announcements..

Hmm good question. My best bet is it will probably be Nintendo. Cause they always do seem to save their biggest things for these events while Sony and MS leak out info before. Usually how it's always worked.

* Whos gonna have the most shocking news ?

Most shocking. In a good or bad way? Shocking can be implied both ways. But I'll assume the good way. I'm going to have to go with MS. I think they are going to have a huge surprise for us as they try to go after that casual gaming market. Shocking game will divulge. Yes even more shocking than Viva Pinata.

* Whos gonna showcase what their console can do the most?

Hardware wise, or feature wise, or what. Very broad. But hardware wise I think Sony will show off some pretty impressive things. Also Nintnedo will really start showing what it can do with WiiConnect 24 and the wiimote controls. Ala MP3. MS really doesn't have that much more to show to be all that impressive.

* Whos gonna announce the most exclusives??

Well it's going to be MS with Nintendo right on their heels with Sony a distant 3rd. That's if we take all of them. But company wise MS at the bottom and Nintendo and Sony tied at first pretty much. But most of Sony's exclusives have been announced while Nintendo has a lot left to announce.

* Whos gonna reign supreme at E3...

Tough call but I think Halo 3 and NIntendo are going to take the show. Similar to E3 2006. Sony will though have a better showing than giant enemy crabs and attacking their weakpoint for massive damage.

* Who's gonna win E3 this year..

Nintendo. They have more to show.

* Whos the most underrated

Hmm from what standpoint really. As an E3 standpoint or a general standpoint. As an E3 standpoing definetly MS. As a general standpoint definetly Nintendo.

* Whos the most overrated?

As an E3 standpoint Nintendo. As a general standpoint Sony.

* Who Who and Who???

Who needs to have the biggest. EAsy question. The one who is in 3rd place. And that's Sony. They not only need but have to have something large here. Otherwise the American market is going to be thinking Halo 3, Brawl, and Galaxy.

Who's gonna have the biggest announcements?

Microsoft or Sony if Nintendo's Gamer's Day is any indication.

Who's gonna have the most shocking news?

Sony because the company in last place is usually the one that takes the biggest risks.

Who's gonna showcase what their console can do the most?

Microsoft and Sony.  We're already hearing things about how Call of Duty 4 and other games are finally starting to show us what Next Gen games really are.  Add that to games like GTAIV and we're in for some pretty amazing stuff.

Who's gonna announce the most exclusives?

Nintendo and hopefully most of them won't be cheap crap titles, minigames, or simple remakes with Wii controls tacked on.

Whos gonna reign supreme at E3?

No idea.

Who's the most underrated?

Sony because people are assuming the race is over and some people aren't taking them seriously enough.

Whos the most overrated?

No idea.

Well, I'd say that Sony obviously must wow us. Not that it would work unless they announce a considerable price reduction, something they won't likely do right now.

Nintendo is on a roll, but they should watch out, mainly with all the accusations (groundless or otherwise) that they're neglecting the so-called hardcore gamers with the Wii. I would be very pleased if they have a few more details on Disaster: Day of Crisis, and disclose some new IPs, but I'm not sure what to expect. I don't care about more info on Metroid, Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros, I want to know about newer stuff.

Microsoft, I feel, is in a relatively comfortable position, at least as far it concerns the US, even with Nintendo very close behind. Not that that means they have permission to slack, only that I feel Sony and Nintendo need to show more effort.

Microsoft for sure. They have lost too much momentum, and most of the debating around the boards at the moment is Wii vrs PS3. We all know Sony has some great games arriving, and the PS3 is just warming up.

This will be the 3rd Xmas(!) for the 360, and its make-or-break time IMO.

What MS need:

1/ Most important, eliminate the "RROD" 360 issues. Announce a new model (or 2), free replacements for everyone, and that the issues have been completely fixed. Until they do this, I can't consider picking a 360 up.

2/ Show lots of Halo 3, and blow people away. Too much shown for the game has been mediocre at best.

3/ Announce some awesome exclusive content (i.e. a FF title, or MGS hitting 360 this Xmas). Mass Effect, Too Human, Fable and more.

4/ Push the GTA4 angle, with exclusive content.

5/ Announce a price cut.

...

All Sony need to do is show videos for their announced titles (Uncharted, LAIR, etc..).

Nintendo just need to keep doing exactly what they have been - a couple of unannounced titles would be cool though. Some Wii RPGs are needed.  I'll be very happy if they announce a new handheld (GC portable), as well as better storage system for the Wii (better SD usage at least).

1) The announcements Sony made at GDC and at their gamer's day are good news for the hardcore crowd, but these people alone aren't going to bring the PS3 back on track. Of course I could be wrong, but I think that Sony has no idea how to increase PS3 sales in the long term, all they said is they are rethinking their strategy for the PS3. We'll see what their plans are next week anyway.

2) Nintendo still hasn't got announcements of big 3rd party franchises for the Wii, so far they are merely receiving spinoffs. That's a good enough reason to show off games and ideas that guarantee a bright future for the Wii. Also they have to fully unveil their online plans and who says that Nintendo is unable to create new big franchises? We'll see what their plans are next week anyway.

3) Sony is of course going to try to have the biggest show because they are in last place. We'll see what their plans are next week anyway.

At the end it's pretty much pointless, to discuss E3 indepth right now. It's all speculation.

Why does it number my paragraphs on its own?

Anyway, how is Little Big Planet and Home for the hardcore crowd? Those two are literally the opposite of what the average hardcore player wants.

Edit: Sony should show the new PSP and/or PSP-PS3 connectivity. Those two things should be there.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

It has to be a success for Sony first and foremost.

Sony need to have playable demo's of Killzone2 and MGS4 and some great demo's of all the other games coming. They will not IMO announce a pricecut just yet. They may announce a redesigned PSP and will showcase Chains of Olympus as the big PSP game of the event.

Nintendo don't need to do much although I'm surprised there won't be a playable demo version of Galaxy...very surprised at that.

Microsoft need to showcase their exclusive games...Mass Effect, Splinter Cell Conviction etc.

But in the end...it needs to be a good one for Sony.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

I think both Sony and MS need great showing at E3 .MS because although it is ahead theres very little interest towards it in Asia and Europe and the interest in the NA market is slowly decreasing month after month .It only has managed to grab the FPS-loving hardcore crew and almost exhausted that demographic group .But Sony on the other hand is trailing behind and although it has some casual grabbers as Singstar,Buzz ,Eye Toy and Eye of Judgement for the future it has to convince first and now the hardcore gamers and not only the FPS-lovers but also the RpG-lovers and the adventure-action-arcade lovers .

The bad press image of Sony started with the E3 of last year ,when they offered a so-so event with very little passion and many footage but few seconds of each game and those games were years off .....plus the announcement of the price tag at the end of the conference that was as cold water in the face of the publishers and media guys there .

What Sony has to do is unveil many new games ,show some of the ones in its near finished state (Lair ,Heavenly Sword ,Uncharted ,Ratchet and Clank ,Folklore ,etc ) and the new Singstar and Eye of Judgement working with the Playstation Eye for the people there to play it .THen unveil Home and let players get to grips with it .Then Little Big Planet .Then some third party exclusives .And finish the event with the announcement of a price cut .Now that would turn the tides .

I read officially that there would not be a playable version of SMASH BROTHERS, nothing about Galaxy or Metroid Prime 3.....

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.
