Why would you ever dislike sales of HD consoles? 

As much as I appreciate the Wii's reaching the casual market earlier in the generation than ever before, as far as I'm concerned every HD console sale is an important one.

The majority of gamers, like it or not, are not well informed about things.

Even of the people buying PS3s and 360s, the "hardcore" machines, most won't be on message boards looking for news about various different models being released.

Here are some stats I will pull out of nowhere.
Of the 67k buyers this week:

50% will probably be your average uninformed gamer, this doesn't make them stupid, it just means they don't know about it.

20% might have found a good deal on a 40G and realise they won't fiind the new model for the same price until after Christmas

20% might not have found a deal, but still don't care, because they don't need the extra space or care about rumble

5% buying mostly for Blu-ray

5% are stupid

If Sony advertised the new SKU, then sales would have probably been in the range of 10k... What Sony wants is to get rid of these systems no one will buy once the new SKU is out.
