 You dont want to know what actually goes down behind the curtain... Georgia is by far one of the politically most ruined countryes in the world and a quick "repair" from the colosus that is Russia would be more then welcomed ;)

Russia's politics are far more screwed thanks. Under the current president corruption in georgia has been significantly reduced. He's part of the solution. Not the problem. Russia were the ones supporting the problem.

You don't even seem to realize the reason Georgia broke away. It's not just some random made up nation. There is a long history of the Georgians being their own people.

A long history that includes the russians invading and fucking things up twice already. That's really the last thing georgia wants to happen for a third time.

I know that Georgia has its own history thank you, Ive managed to learn that much in mmy 12 years in school ;) but then why take away Osetia? By far the biggest % of that teritories inhabitants are Russians and Georgia has absolutly no rights to have it. They started behaving violently and IMO Russia has every right to run them down whenever they please. Also Im not saying that Russia should take over Georgia ( not that I would care, lets be honest a small nation like that is best if its connected to somebody who can actually protect it militaryt ) but it could shore make some order there...

Oh and dont come to me with human rights and stuff and how Russia violates them... the USA is built entirely on Indian teritories and they masacred the native americans as soon as they hit the shore so please befopre people say that " OMG teh ruskiez are teh evilz !!!11!!!!11" just look at the bloody and pushy past of the world leading " democratic" country and then make similar comments...

 Let me guess, youve seen that report on CNN on your 45" HDTV at home... that is by far not an objective impression, and thats exactly what most countryes want you to bealive about Russia and the Russian-Georgian relationship.

Why do they have a claim to South Ossetia? Because South Ossetia was part of georgian territory before the Russians took it over.

The Ossetians ARE NOT russians. Apparently your 12 years of schooling ignored that fact.

They are their own people.

South Ossetia also know as "Kudar" was a part of georgia before the Russians took over.

South Ossetians are and always have been georgians.  If they want to live in another country, they should immigrate, rather then try and revolt.

I know very well the differences of the two.

 The real Osetian population ( the ones that lived there hundreds of years ago and not the ones whom where ported there during the communist era ) is so low that its by far ignorable... why should there be yet another country with low population of a couple of thousand enhabitants? So it can die out... people ignore the fact that all this small nations whom want teritorial autonomy do only one thing: destroy Europe , cut it up into small tiny pieces so in the end they will all become some museum atraction which will be visited every year by Japanese, English or American tourists, juste because its a cheap place to be...

They shouldn't be their own country... they should be part of georgia... like they were before the USSR annexed them plenty of people who left South Ossetia left towards Georgia, and i'm sure Georgia could find plenty of people to take the place of those who did leave.

Also, all the census data i can find actually say the ethnic Ossetians are the majority. So i don't know where you get the minority statement from.

So far you've giving tons of unsupportive claims at why Russia is in the right. Could you supply any actual defense for your claims? If not, you lose.

On Georgia's side:
1. Historically Georgia has always had the basic borders it does now.
2. Ossetians instigated the flare up which Georgia responded.
3. Russians had "military games" going on conveniently on the border just before its Ossetian separatists began their attacks.
4. Russia has been pissed about all of the US and NATO actions around the old soviet bloc states and Kosovo. It has stated there would be repercussions.
5. All signs point to this being a long standing plan by Russia to take part of Georgian land.
6. Russia said they only wanted Georgians out of S.Ossetia yet they kept pushing deeper into Georgia days after Georgia accepted cease fire and stopped fighting back.
7. Russia put troops and started another conflict in a different territory that was perfectly calm prior to this whole ordeal and has forcifully redrawn its borders as well.
8. Russia has bombed a lot of unnecessary targets deep in Georgia.


I'm sorry, but I just don't see how you could side with Russia or claim at this point in time in light of all the evidence that people supporting Georgia are merely using old cold war ideas. Russia is clearly in the wrong.
