I'm sorry, with the type of trouble he's obviously getting into, maybe it would have been better if it had taken them that extra hour.
At least then you could be sure he wouldn't do stuff like this again. As it stands, all think is how long is it going to be before he starts rationalizing: "well, okay, the bench was a bad idea, but surely nothing will go wrong if I stick my penis in this car's muffler..."
