We're shooting for a post-racial society. In our society, we choose people for jobs based on their ability to perform them, not the color of their skins.

So, largely, it doesn't matter. There probably just weren't any Persians that could act, were available, and were a proven box office draw.

Frankly, after seeing these screens, I'm a lot more impressed than I thought I would be.

...and if Tom Hanks wanted to play an asian, more power to him. I'm sure the movie would be interesting. It would make a lot more money than if you got an actual asian to play himself, and Tom went to another project.

Your innocent look at the world is charming, but in reality, this movie will make the vast majority of its money in America. If they want it to make money, they better either get somebody people want to see, or make the movie so good that it'll garner critical acclaim. It's a video-game movie. I think they're better off getting a guy that everybody likes, than an unknown Persian.

Even if there were a million gamers who cared about accuracy and race, big woop. Jake will probably pull in 2 or 3 million just on his name alone, and the hardcore prince fans are most likely gonna go see it anyway.

I mean, it would be nice to have Fabio as Thor. He looks the part, but he can't act, and he would suck/ruin the movie, just by being associated with it. Stan Lee actually wanted to audition Fabio for Thor. He lacks the same perspective about casting as you do. Casting is an art. Most people can't do it. You shoulda seen the vast interent whining when Nolan casted Ledger as the Joker. People actually said they would boycott the movie, and that he would ruin it.

You need to see auditions, recognize talent, and have knowledge of all the variables before you cast a movie. "Make sure he looks right and is persian" is such a gross oversimplification, it hardly registers as anything but a line from a film parodying the industry of the early 20s.

Jake doesn't look to bad at all. But I think if you wanted a guy to be a dead ringer for the prince, you'd get that guy who played Bobby in The Practice. He just needs the haircut........and body.........and youth.

Since I'm Persian I deem myself more suitable for the job and accept the role graciously. Anyone want to get a petition going for me so we can open the eyes of the fools in Hollywood and get me a kick ass job?

btw you want to talk about not fitting your role, has anyone seen the actor playing Goku in the DBZ movie, its just down right bad. Picollo on the other hand looks cool
