Forums - Sony - What if Sony kept the Boomerang?

It could be a nice steering wheel with motioncontroll. I think it would have missfit for other game genres. I think it is a wise decision. They will be better of without.

It depends, I can't give a 100% answer because I've never held one of them. Based on that, I don't think wouldn't have bothered me too much if they stuck with it, but between it and the Sixaxis, I'd rather have the Sixaxis.

*edit* Hey, is that the PS button I see, or were people accusing Sony of copying Microsoft's Xbox button at that time as well?

It wouldn't have mattered to me. The real problem is that the button layout and joystick placement are the exact same. I hate where everything is placed. The controller wasn't a problem. If they had just made the joysticks offset then it would have been a whole lot better.

I noticed that the analog sticks on the boomerang are farther apart from the Dualshock/Sixaxis and that seems to be a common complaint from thumbs bumping into each other.

I prefer the sixaxis over that. But I do wish they had stuck with the silver console instead of black :( looks nicer.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Hmm, I don't know. The silver color didn't look that bad, but I think the black looks better. Eh, I want some paint skills and custom paint my PS3 like that one guy who did the white and red ones and then pawned off on Ebay.

I couldn't even imagine holding that thing....

It looks even worse than the dual shock, and that's saying a lot (i hate the dualshock)

And no, at this time the motion sensing was not even planned, but then nintendo revealed their controller....mhmhmm.

I would think this design would be hard on the hands. The thing looks like it would be a pain to hold onto.

the sixaxis rocks... but the boomerang looks long as hell... i would not have a ps3 right now.

Am I the only person on the planet who thought the boomerang looked kind of cool? Looks comfortable, and keeping the same controller for 3 consoles is pretty unimaginative.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.... I like knowing exactly where my buttons are, without ever thinking about it. I'm REALLY glad they didn't use the boomerang, it's FUBAR.

I still would've got a PS3, but for the first time I would only be using an aftermarket controller(you know Logitech or someone would've made a reg controller for it)
